A_R (293), Georgia, USA Nov 15, 2007 A mild and light beer. Didn’t expect too much and I got what was expected. A very mild hop flavor.
roder_60 (871), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 20, 2008 Pours dark orange color with nice layer of froathy bubbly head. Aroma is weak - a bit sweet grass and floral. Flavor is light, thin and watery but with some sweet maltiness and a bitter dry hop finish, though very very mild. Overall, ok for hot day, but overall, nothing special. drjay44 (104), USA Aug 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours a largish head, which slowly deflates, no lacing, mild slightly hoppy nose, initial taste sweetish, later pleasant hop bitterness. Not much to it. crazyvin (1072), New York, USA Aug 18, 2008 A nice golden-brown hue with a white head. A nice wood-like or earth aroma to it. A great hop profile on the flavor. A decent mix of bittering hops and floral hops. Finish was crisp. Angeloregon (1829), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 18, 2008 From a small bottle purchased at Johns Market Place--Poured a deep amber-copper hue with a thick white head. Nose of cardboard and caramel malts with some spicy hops. Flavor of sweet honey and earthy nuttiness. Hard to drink. Sweet and something off. Disappointed that Monty Python’s name was associated with this drab beer. wheresthepath (210), Buckinghamshire, England Aug 17, 2008 [500ml bottle] My workmate Justin bought this back as a gift from Scotland, having bought it in DOune Castle where large parts of the Holy Grail movie were actually filmed (cheers Jus!). Pours a golden-brown with a large but diminishing white head. Moderate soft carbonation. Taste is honeyed, with some grass, dusty hops. The Black Sheep earthiness is still there, but less evident than in their other beers. In fact, overall I’d say this beer is a little on the bland & watery side for an ESB. Nevertheless, it’s very drinkable and more-ish, and far more pleasant than you expect for these sort of silly-name movie tie-in beers. Not bad at all.
