VeloVampire (374), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 9, 2007 Updated: Dec 15, 2007 500 ml bottle - pours a deep chestnut with a two-finger off-white head. Very nice aromas of hazelnut, plum, earthy hops and some alcohol. Flavour filled with roasty malt with an undercurrent of sourness as well. Some warming alcohol at the back of the throat. Very soft in the mouth with a chalky and bitter finish. Exceptionally well-made old ale.
note666 (155), Eindhoven, Netherlands Jul 13, 2008 500 ml bottle. brown ruby colour. taste is like roasted coffee. fruit is not really notisable. fredandboboflo (277), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottle. Roasted/toasted aroma, dark fruits, even those are toasted. Flavor the same, gets a bit dull. Mouthfeel rather thin, especially for the roasted character presented. Ok. Maltybones (48), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Jul 12, 2008 Deep red-brown appearance with medium carbonation and a thick, long-lasting head worthy of a stout. Aroma is pleasing, with bready malts followed by lots of toffee, floral hops and even a little lemon. Taste is in excellent balance, with lightly roasted malts mixing with assertive hops and pepper notes. Full, creamy, extremely smooth mouthfeel. Nice.
