Cask conditioned handpump Canal House Nottingham 21/11/13. A dark dark ruby coloured beer with a whitish head. Pretty dry and very bitter. Thinnish. Chocolate and coffee. A reasonable porter. The dark malts are quite good but I’d like more body for sure.

Cask at the George IV, LSE. Very surprised at the low ratings. Pours a clear very dark brown body with a medium, thick head. Decent chocolate and coffee aroma, quite mild. Taste is nicely full-bodied, lots of roasted malts, good bitter aftertaste. Not at all complex nor is it hard to find a better porter but it still makes for a very tasty and drinkable pint (and easily the best beer I’ve had on the otherwise beer-wise unexciting campus pub)

Green Dragon, Wymondham. Dark ruby with a frothy tan head and excellent lacing. Fresh autumn rain on hard granite, earthy, grainy dark roasted malt. Soft carbonation with a thin medium body. Really fresh.

Dark with a frothy head. Some coffee and roasted malt comes through but a little thin of palate. Drinkable but lacking character.
