12 oz goblet at The Terminal. Black Shirt makes some really pretty beers. This is a brilliant, clear red with a white head. Aroma is malty with hints at toffee, biscuits, chocolate and well utilized hops add a touch of citrus. The palate is medium. Very clean and balanced flavor. For the style the malt is pleasantly complex. Bready flavors anywhere from caramel to chocolate to earth are noted. A fairly sturdy bitterness gives balance with some citrus hop flavors rounding out the finish. This is what I want from a red ale. Very well done.

Bottle @ tasting. Aroma big caramel, light liquorice, some malt. Flavour is big caramel, light roasty molasses. Okay I guess.

Sample from Studio Track #2014-03 at the tap room. Reddish-amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of roast malt, caramel and mild grassy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft. Pours a thick, well retained, light beige head, over a clear copper/amber (SRM 18) body....nose is toasted malts, with biscuit tones, light rye type spice, light pine, floral honey notes....taste is slightly sweet malts with hints of fig, cocoa, floral honey notes, light lemon tones from the hops, ending with a moderate bitter finish.....mouth feel, medium body, mils astringency, slight acid. This really is not an Amber. It is quite atypical, of loads of spice note from the malt back bone, floral tones from the hops. It is one of those craft experiments, that worked, think of it as a dark APA. BJCP 8/3/14/4/7

On tap at BSB. Light amber, red, clear appearance with a sticky, off-white head. Aroma of toffee. caramel, floral notes and citrusy hops. Similar flavor, mildly sweet and lightly bitter with an average body. Easy to drink, I guess.

On tap at red shirt. Aroma is toasty malts, nuttiness. Flavor is bitter hops, decently balanced but boring, and too bitter for me.

Pretty unremarkable red ale. I mean, itís good itís just that there is nothing much to say. I could drink it all night though.

On tap @ Black Shirt. Pours a dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Floral, bitter hoppy, caramel, slight citrusy aroma. Goopy sweet caramel malty flavor that finishes very floral and bitter. Not good.

Pour on tap at the brewery, clear red pour with thin white head, aroma brought nice grass, earth, spice, slight orange notes with lots of caramel and toffee, malty notes in there. Taste is a mix of slight grass, earth, hints of red fruit, lots of caramel, toffee, some spice notes in there, finishing bitter, slightly dry.

On tap at Black Shirt poured aclear reddish amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel and fruittiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel and fruittiness with a smooth lingering carmel finish.
