Big citrus and piney hop character, full rye body. For all you sophisticated hop-heads out there, Vulcan is strong, but balanced. 20% rye and 20 lbs of hops. 6.6% abv. 64.7 IBU

Tap at brewery. Amber pour with white head, average retention. Aroma is piney hope, citrus and tropical fruit. Faint caramel. Taste is piney hops, faint citrus, balanced malt backbone. Light toast and Carmel. Solidly bitter. Medium body and carbonation. Very good!

IPA no doubt. The hops are up front, but not overpowering. The color is a very delicate brown when held up to a light. Served on a cask engine the hops become much more mellow and the mouth feel thickens up a little. Very enjoyable when looking for hops. A good go to.

On tap at brewery, poured a clear bronze hue w/ small white head and sticky lacing. Bold sweet hop aromas. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a big bitter finish. Tastes are pine, orange citrus, clover, honey, and grapefruit. Full bodied, syrupy mouthfeel, and dry finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I shot an episode of Locapour that features the Black Star Vulcan: http://locapour.tv/austin/blackstarcoopvulcan T color of the beer is amazing. It is truly lives up to its fiery namesake. If you are in the mood for an IPA but don’t want to be punched in the nose with a bushel of hops, the Vulcan will be a good choice. The rye rounds it out and gives it an incredible mouthfeel.

On tap. Caramel-colored cloudy beer with a small head. One of the better "Rye IPAs" I’ve had. Brewers usually lay it on too thick, this has pretty good balance. The rye does muscle out some of the pleasant hop notes, but adds some pleasant complex burnt flavors.
