COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We begin with a custom mixture of dark and roasted barley malts, then we add the choicest hops. The resulting ale has a dark chestnut color and a deep nutty flavor. Brewed specially for Trader Joe’s.

From the 355 ml bottle dated 07/20/14-13:47. While it is great when breweries put the expiration or bottling date on their bottles I do get amused that they put the time. So, does this suddenly go stale at 2:00 pm that day? The pour is dark brown with a long lasting cream colored head. Aroma is soapy with cardboard-like malts, and mild nuttiness. Smooth and creamy texture. The taste is fairly ordinary as far as Browns go with the inevitable nutty and malty character. But there is nothing overly distinctive about it. It is very easy to drink.

Very nice aroma, very little head, and pouring a deep brown almost cola colored. Taste is not bad, but not very distinctive. Leaves a bitter taste on the palate... Good thing I’m eating graham crackers with it.

I paid a dollar for a bottle of this in a make-your-own six-pack at Trader Joe’s. I think it was worth that dollar, but I probably won’t buy it again. It pours dark brown with little foam, the aroma is a muted malt, and there is a mild hoppy tingle on the tongue. The taste is a dark-bread, mellow malt. There is a slight hop tingle in the finish and a slightly synthetic aftertaste. All in all this beer isn’t bad, but there are far better beers just as cheap at Trader Joe’s.

Pours a pretty dark brown - a touch of cola color in the light- with a smooth and creamy light tan head. Very good bubbles lacing. Aroma is slight chocolate malts, nutty grain. Taste is a bit unusual: some roast malt upfront and across the palate, but with a hit of bitter hops across the finish line. The aftertaste kluges these flavors together. A decent English-style brown ale for Trader Joe's prices - more crafty and interesting than expected. Pretty sessionable as well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Totally average, but much better than any Bud or Coors. Pours dark brown with light head. Few worthwhile aromas. Tastes of chocolate, not much else. Don?t buy.

12 oz. bottle poured to a fest goblet, displaying a dark brown color with amber highlighting, a gradually diminishing, creamy, light tan layer of head foam, and good cling to the waves & spots of lacing. The nose was toasty, with a bit of roastiness, light molasses, caramel, and a touch of dark fruit sweetness. Medium bodied, with lively/prickly carbonation, a touch of wood & smoke, moderate, earthy, hop bitterness, and light brown sugar sweetness that lingered on the tongue. A decent, fairly hearty Brown Ale imo.

Downright average- but also downright cheap (thank you TJ’s!) so overall decent value. Pretty drinkable- would bring a six pack to a fall campfire. Pours the color of coke- pretty carbonated- not much head or lacing. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and taste is too sweet (like caramel) to me for a darker beer- the chocolate, malt, earthiness all there. Finish is a bit strange- sort of dry but not in a nice hoppy way. Not bad, not great.
