TheBeerCollector (548), Woodstock, Georgia, USA May 11, 2007 Pours an almost opaque ruby red with no head retention. Aroma of coffee beans and cocoa. Watery mouthfeel with a thin flavor of chocolate malt. Decent but certainly not memorable.
can8ianben (668), Pasadena, California, USA Nov 27, 2008 Dark and smoky, but light enough that it wasn’t a beer that made me feel heavy. Much darker than a typical brown ale, but similar in body and mouthfeel. Black. Strykzone (1070), Wood River, Illinois, USA Nov 15, 2008 Almost black pour with a short lived head. Red highlights. Aroma is full of malt, nuts, milk, unmalted barley. The barley gives a sorghum molasses flavor. Faint hop presence. Lactic acid. Mild effervescence. Smokey. Medium bodied. Not bad at all. fidel (310), Livermore, California, USA Oct 20, 2008 Updated: Oct 28, 2008Dark brown, smooth, sweet roasted malts, molasses, nutty, little coffee, slight hop. tmongoose (35), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 20, 2008 a dark ale that poured to a nice head. it quickly dissapated. for me this is a beer that i could drink on a regular basis. its not heavy at all, refreshing and has a good roasted malt flavor. HonkeyBra (509), Lemont, Illinois, USA Oct 18, 2008 While I was telling my Aunt about my beer hobby, she pulled this out of the fridge for me. She said my uncls didn’t like dark beers and this was a bit too dark for her. Dark brown pour, roasty aroma. Flavor was sweet and roasty, I almost thought this was a thin porter. Pretty decent, though. Especially for a random contract brew.
