3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 AshtonMcCobb (1452) - Edinburgh, - NOV 19, 2012On cask @ Cloisters. Pours black with red chinks of light. The nose has fairly equal measures of chocolate and pine/grapefruit, though the latter definitely wins through on the taste. A balanced palate, not to sweet, not too bitter, but with that familiar mineral/cheese/chalk taste which takes away from it. Your beers are great but please re-balance your water.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BeerCast_Rich (1687) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 3, 2012
[cask at Cloisters Bar, Edinburgh] Another black one from BlackBar – albeit with red/brown edges. Charcoal bitterness, leading into grapefruit zest on both aroma and flavour. Dry, bitter finish [15112012]
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 McNeillR (249) - SCOTLAND - NOV 22, 2012
Fruit loaf nose, brown lemonade body and a trickly tan head. Big and suppable shovels of mulched hop in the initial taste with a resounding liquor tickle under a light lemonade taste that takes the edge off any real finish that has a harsh, scraped toast linger.

Cask (Cambridge Blue, Cambridge)
Lovely hoppy aroma, chocolate too. Dark, small loose head. Fairly tasty body, both with the roasted malts and aromatic hops represented well. However, the roast’s a bit burnt and astringent. Bitterness compounds that by being very grapefruity. So quite a drying drink. Full flavoured, but didn’t work for me. Give me a Raven instead!

Cask-conditioned at the Cambridgeshire & Lincolnshire Beeriodical, at the Seven Stars, Bristol, August 2012. Black with next to no head. Dark chocolate, some toastiness and some decent, slightly herbal, hops. Enjoyable.

Cask, handpump at The Cambridge Blue, Cambridge Sat 14th April 2012 with Loz Black as yer ’at with a scattering of beige bubbles on top. Furiously bitter with also a little bit of smokiness just detected and their is a general stream of roastiness coming through also. The hops zap the tastebuds the bitterness builds, it is very pithy, very hoppy stuff this, very good beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9
