This beer is rich, creamy brown in color. The aroma is of caramel malts, dried dark fruits, mild fruity yeast esters, whiskey and oak. The unique combination of grains and molasses create a rich and malty full-bodied beer that is balanced by the subtle flavors of rye and hops that lead into a slightly dry finish. The whiskey barrel aging process brings out flavors of whiskey, oak, toffee and cinnamon. Blackfoot River Brewing Company’s Winter Warmer is brewed with Montana grown and malted 2-row pale malt, English Golden Promise malt, English Crystal malts, Iowa Flaked barley, Canadian Honey malt, English black malt, German malted rye, and American made blackstrap molasses. This beer was aged for three months in Dry Fly Distillery’s Washington Wheat Whiskey barrels.

Bottle 220 of 502 of the 2012 batch. Pours a hazy dark amber, with a light tan head. Aroma of oak, caramel, and malt. Taste is rich and smooth, with good oaken notes. I am quite happy with this fine brew. Thumbs way up!

750ml cork+cage bought from brewpub. #363 of 502. Dark copper brown, tight bubbly head. Huge bourbon aroma, this is a great BA ale. Mild brown base beer with crisp hops for style. Mollasses, banana bread, light cinnamon. Sweet mild, lower alc. Lovely that it is a lighter body for a big bourbon ale. awesome, heavy barrel aging. Really strong, tasty and fun.

Thanks to Matt for this one! Murky brown, small tan head. Lots of whiskey on the nose, sitting over molasses, banana bread, dark fruits, and mild baking spices. The barrels did this one good. Flavor follows. Really nice effort, and a good use of whiskey barrels.
