Aubrey (2625), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 23, 2008 Guest tap at the Lewis & Clark Brewery: Hazy yellow-orange with a thinnish head. Mouthfeel seemed a bit light, but the beer sure had a lot going on. Malts were rather earthy and funky-wholesome, with elements of grain, nuts, dark toast, bread crust and tree bark. Hops were pretty bold as well, with notes of pine, medicine, grass, plants and flower petals. Finish was rather bitter, stark even. Overall, I did like some things about this IPA, but I think it can use a bit more polishing. It just seemed somewhat rough around the edges, and its balance could use some work. douglas88 (936), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Jun 8, 2008 Updated: Jun 9, 20082008 NABA. On draft. Pours a very interesting orange color with a small white head. The aroma was quite nice; mostly floral hops and light malts. The taste was really nice; a really good helping of Cascade hops, which was not really bitter, but very tasty and was balanced well by the malt presence. I have to say I really liked this beer, simple in some ways, but very well made. wickedpete (569), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Jun 3, 2008 Golden body, a white head. Hoppy and lemon aroma. Flavor is weak, bitter, with a little bit of citrus. Full for such a weak body. Holdwine (843), Beertimore, Maryland, USA May 19, 2008 At Savor. Nice try, but I thought this came off a little weak. The malt gimmick shows some ingenuity, but doesn’t add much. There is a decent hopping, but nothing giving it that zing. Drinkable, but not great. argo0 (6284), Washington DC, USA May 17, 2008 (Savor, draft) Medium off-white head atop hazy straw body. Aroma is medium sweet, pine/grapefruit, some pineapple. Taste is moderately sweet, pine/pineapple, some grapefruit. Medium body, some resin.
