COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just like Single Malt Scotch, our spring seasonal I.P.A. is brewed from 100% crisp Maris Otter floor-malted (made by hand!) barley - no specialty malts, no blending. This traditional India Pale Ale is heavily hopped with both Magnum and Cascade hops grown in the Pacific Northwest. Golden in color, refreshing to drink and full of hops, this beer is available from mid-February through mid-September

On tap. Pours a hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma is light hoppy bitterness with some pine, floral, and grapefruit. Light malts in the background. Taste mirrors the nose, and is overall nice, just somewhat thin and watery. Finish is dry and moderately bitter.

Draught @ Machinery Row in Great Falls:   Hazy amber, very orangish, thin white sudsy head, decent lacing.   Moderate hop presense on the nose, a little bit of biting citrus peel.   On the tongue its quite bitter, but not overly done.   Decent malt base, very light sweetness, slight citrus peel twang.   I am quite surprised to how good this is for an IPA not thats not brewed on the west coast.   Good dose of bitterness on the tongue, citrus twang.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   I am surprised by this one.   Vert drinkable, good bitterness, with a good malt base.   Better than expected.

This hazy golden ale poured with a modest off-white head and a pine aroma. There is a decent caramel malt flavor, but it’s pretty thin. There is significant hop bitterness at the finish.

Guest tap at the Lewis & Clark Brewery: Hazy yellow-orange with a thinnish head. Mouthfeel seemed a bit light, but the beer sure had a lot going on. Malts were rather earthy and funky-wholesome, with elements of grain, nuts, dark toast, bread crust and tree bark. Hops were pretty bold as well, with notes of pine, medicine, grass, plants and flower petals. Finish was rather bitter, stark even. Overall, I did like some things about this IPA, but I think it can use a bit more polishing. It just seemed somewhat rough around the edges, and its balance could use some work.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2008 2008 NABA. On draft. Pours a very interesting orange color with a small white head. The aroma was quite nice; mostly floral hops and light malts. The taste was really nice; a really good helping of Cascade hops, which was not really bitter, but very tasty and was balanced well by the malt presence. I have to say I really liked this beer, simple in some ways, but very well made.

Golden body, a white head. Hoppy and lemon aroma. Flavor is weak, bitter, with a little bit of citrus. Full for such a weak body.
