Bottle at the Beer, Bocce and Boozer Tasting, London. You’re welcome for this beauty of a beer, gents. Pours clear, ruby-brown with a mild, foamy-bubbly head. Bit of wood, leather, dark fruit and booze in the aroma. Some tangy fruits in the flavor, more leather, berries, cherries. Pretty tangy - must be the Lacons recipe. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Tangy fruit finish with more tart cherries and leather. Almost like an oud bruin in character, or something. Points for being an interesting beer. It’s rooted in UK barley wine territory for sure, but it ventures outside those borders at times. Decent.

Bottle, thanks to Leighton at his Beer, Bocce and Boozer tasting. It pours hazy deep brown, with a thin off-white head. The nose is chocolate, sweet caramel, tangy dark fruit, red grape and toasted coconut. The taste is tangy dark fruit, malt vinegar, spice, vinous/sherry-aspect, with a sweet-sour finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Well hidden alcohol. Some similarities to Gales POA here, so I rather liked it.

Bottle @ Beer, Bocce and Boozer tasting. Hazy brown color with a frothy tan head. Nutty nose, some fruit and port wine. Caramel. The taste is quite acidic, some tart bruised apples. Sweet, with a defined vinous character. Medium body, the alcohol is hidden well. Soft carbonation.

Bottled. A dark chestnut coloured beer with a tiny off-white head. A boozy fruity aroma with hints of burnt treacle lead into burnt flavours with alcohol and vegetal notes. A bit raw and with plenty of iron notes. Interesting but not altogether pleasing.

Cask, Newark Winter Fest 10. Mahogany in colour with a thin head. Aromas are dark chocolate with molasses, caramel and burnt toffee. Flavours are sweet toffee and raisins with caramel. Hoppy and spicy with citrus. Reminded me of Fullers Vintage Ale.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also hints of acidity. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and spices, as well as a slight alcohol burn on the tongue and in the throat. The acidity in the nose could stem from a slight infection. Thanks fonefan and Brugmansia for sharing.
