3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 brandonbrew (22) - USA - AUG 30, 2008
Fairly decent for what it is. Its Vanilla all right. I am pretty sure they use a fake vanilla flavoring on their basic pale ale with less hops. Its beer blended with the coal miners stout.

A pronounced vanilla aroma. Looks like a pale lager, not a cream ale. The aroma is nice. The beer is not for me. It has plenty of vanilla, but it’s just not a good flavor to me, simple as that.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Bif (621) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 25, 2011
Served a pale yellow color with a small head that fades slowly and very little lacing. Aroma is all vanilla. Taste is mostly vanilla, muting the other characteristics. Reminds me mostly of a Cream Ale. Fairly light body, smooth. fairly easy drinker, but for me one and done. I know better than to have fruit or flavored beers but every once in a while...I stay from the path.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ChainGangGuy (3835) - Canton, Georgia, USA - NOV 23, 2009
Appearance: Served up a clear, pale yellow body with a lasting, white head.
Smell: Slightly sweetish wafts of buttered vanilla with only the faintest background hints of extra pale malts.
Taste: Very light malt profile with only a minute hint of grains. With Blackhorse’s glaring issues with diacetyl coupled with the vanilla flavoring, this beer comes across as, well, not a beer, but rather like a tall glass of AW Cream Ale. No real apparent hop character or bitterness, so, it’s Cream Ale from start to finish.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-light carbonation.
Drinkability: A smooth, easy-drinking cre--err, beer.

Sampler. All vanilla here. Light sweetness, watery. Like a flat vanilla pop.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 BeerHawk (1635) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - OCT 9, 2005
Draft at Pub: Not sure what I was expecting from this one but...... A clear yellow color with a fizzy white head. The looks and smell reminded me of a vanilla cream soda. The flavor tasted artificial, full of vanilla. Very light, dry, and watery. Was like a vanilla flavored carbonated water.
