3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can. Cola brown body with a frothy, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, coconut, nuts. Light chocolate, biscuit, metal. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Coconut flavor is nicely integrated into the roasted malts. Sweet coconut trumps bitter hops. Easy drinking.

Can poured to shaker. Nice, medium head lasting just long enough. Dark brown, persistent carbonation. Sweet, dark chocolate and coconut dominant on initial taste, then I got just sweet coconut. Felt good on the palate, but I didn't enjoy the flavors.

12oz Can. Thanks Sean! Not at all funky, but the gentle coconut breeze reminds me of New Glarus Sour Brown, but then moves into distinct German Chocolate cake and bulk coconut from the co-op. Flavors are good and balanced. This is a little more coconut forward than many coconut beers I’ve had, but the brown really provides a solid base. Having the sweetened coconut over the toasted gives this more of a candy-like composition, which is different and enjoyable. A nice beer.

Poured from a can to a pint class. The beer has a nice tan head that stays in the glass for a bit. Once the head subsides the aroma comes through. Although I found the aroma to be lacking I found the taste to be smooth and a bit sweet from the coconut. The coconut flavor was very well hidden, but contributed to the sweetness of the brown ale. All in all a nice beer to drink in the heat of the summer or cool of the winter months.

Can to pint glass. Foamy beige head with a cola body. Aromas are dusty and earthy... a bit of chocolate, too. Flavor is decent, but pretty middle of the road. A very good brown, but not a particularly interesting one. Coconut is impossible to detect.

Can from Sean - thanks! From the can. Light nuts, minimal malt sweetness, coconut, and slight roast in the aroma. Taste is a nice mixture of light roast and nuts with coconut. Clean drinker. Very nice.

Can purchased at Siciliano’s. Reddish chestnut brown pour with a thick beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel and slight coconut. Malty flavor with some coconut before a spiced finish.

Pour from a 12 oz can. Cloudy dark brew with gneerous tan head. Aroma of toasted grain, a little coconut, a bit of grass or hay. Taste is sweet malt / caramel at the start overlayed with a sour / tart note at the end. A little coconut seems to come and go. Nice.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce can into tulip glass, no canning date. Pours lightly hazy very dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, toast, toffee, coconut, nuttiness, biscuit, brown bread, brown sugar, light herbal, and toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and moderate coconut notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, chocolate, cocoa, toast, toffee, coconut, biscuit, nuttiness, brown bread, brown sugar, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, cocoa, toast, toffee, coconut, biscuit, nuttiness, brown sugar, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and coconut flavors; with great robustness and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice flavored brown ale. All around good complexity and robustness of dark/bready malts and moderate coconut flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.
