COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout uses a blend of the finest roasted malts along with locally roasted and cold-extracted coffee. The result is a silky smooth brew with coffee aromas and flavors that compliment and enhance the roastiness of the stout. Brewed with Rainforest Alliance Certified Mesa de los Santos, from Nashville’s own Portland brew micro-roasters. O.G. - 1.067 IBUs - 26

On tap at Blackstone brewpub. Pitch black with a medium tan head and some lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malt, coffee and a touch of caramel and chocolate. Body is creamy with roasted dark malts, mildly acidic coffee, chocolate and a mild bittersweet finish. Best brew I had here on this visit.

Poured from a growler at the Sexual Chocolate release. Reviewed from notes. Pours near black with a very thin mocha head that recedes fairly quickly. Nose brings forward a pretty large amount of roasted dark coffee along with a bit of roasted dark malts. The taste is almost exclusively the coffee, which is slightly bitter but not overly roasted. Mouthfeel is not quite as heavy as I would like given the heft of the coffee flavors, but has nice carbonation, especially from the growler. Drinks quite well and was a nice morning treat. Dark brown-black with brown edges and a light tan head. Aroma is cold coffee, roast, berries, sweet chocolate. Taste is big bitter, ground coffee fading into roasted malt, light bitter chocolate. If I was into coffee, I’m sure this would be stellar as it is it is really really good.

Damn black with frothy tan head and lace. Rich malt with medium coffee aroma. Very smooth coffee flavor that goes through phases of coffee flavor. Medium bodied with good carbonation and a nice malt bitter. This is a damn fine beer. Seasonal so try it if you can.

Draft, and I guess it’s at least three months old. Pours a deep brown with a light beige head. Aroma of wet coffee grounds. Medium bodied with average carbonation, and a slight milkiness to the texture. This is a nice, non-aggressive coffee stout with melded flavors of mild roast coffee, black patent malts, caramel, and unsweetened chocolate. Bitterness is just right, keeping this nice and balanced.

Draft poured by curly at Woody’s Smoke and Brews. Black in the glass with a thick creamy tan head that left thick lace. Nice coffee and chocolate aromas. The flavor follows the same as the aroma. Medium to full body, smooth and creamy, coffee aftertaste. Very decent stout and a new favorite for me from Blackstone.

Draft pour at Woody’s. Beer is solid black with a thick creamy milkshake looking brown head that leaves great lace. Aroma is mild vanilla and slight chocolate or coffee. Bitter roast coffee taste and good coffee aftertaste. Could be a little thicker to support the bitterness. Great beer though.

Sampled from growler that the beer rep brought us. Thanks Justin! Pours a very dark brown with decent brown head that fades. Massively coffee infused aroma and flavor with a good bit of roastiness. A pleasant chocolate sweetness is left on the palate. I found the body to be medium and a soft silkiness on the finish. The best blackstone I’ve had. And I don’t even like coffee!
