decaturstevo (3669) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - FEB 19, 2012
Black pour with frothy tan head and lace. Aroma of roasted malt and very light coffee. Roasted malt, coffee, a malt like bitter followed by a dry finish. A tad thin and fizzy but a solid drinker.

Medium bodied, heavy on the hops. A real breath of fresh air compared to most stouts. Lighter but not too light, and a touch of roasted malts. Light carbonation.

On tap at brewery. Mixed with their APA. (Black and tan) no separation. Enjoyable mixture!! A white head against an amber black beer color. Hops from the apa shine through so much so that the taste of the stout is buried. I reccommend this mixture next time you’re at tthe brewery!

punkeedo (491) - Covington, Louisiana, USA - MAR 23, 2009
2009 Tap. A mediocre dry stout. Tastes more like a porter with a coffeeish bent, though its mouthfeel is very similar to Guinness. Looks very similar to Guinness and is worth a try, though I’m convinced the Irish do it better.

16 oz on tap at the brewpub. Poured a pretty dark brown color with a two finger brown/tan head that hung around for the majority of the time it took me to drink it. The aroma was pretty muted, but small notes of roasted malt and maybe some bitter chocolate were present. The flavor was solid, with coffee and roasted malt dominating. The finish was rather bitter, but it seemed maybe not due to the hop content, but the roasting of the malt. The body was spot on, as was the carbonation. The mouthfeel was chewy and slick. Pretty decent Irish Stout.
