2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 grat (433) - ST. Louis, USA - APR 28, 2006
Caramel taffy colored beer. Soda like head. Nose is clean and toffeish. Slight red bell pepper as well. Flavors are too effervescent. Hard to make anything out other than an acrid bitterness from the CO2 and some lemony hops. Poor beer

Clear orange color with slight white lacing. This beer has a clean toasted aroma with a slight hop feel. Smooth clean palate with crisp hop finish indicative of the English style. Good use of this base malt and give me some fish and chips.

Bronzed body, ring of head. Cardboardy English hop nose followed by a similar flavor. Stale, but with moments of fruitiness. Not a fan.

Pint at the brewpub. This is a really cloudy dark gold with a well formed white head and solid lacing around the glass. It kind of reminds me of a maltier pilsener in the aroma. It’s very doughy and yeasty with hints at cracker and some wooden hops here and there. It has a well balanced flavor with emphasis on flavors of bread with a subtle grassy, wooden bite. It’s fairly dry. Decent, but it just made me want their American pale ale.

Backlog from 12/09. From cask. Aroma of citurs, light red fruits, increasingly rich caramel. Flavor lovely malty notes of figgy fruit and toffee as well as grapes and herbs. Perfect cask mouthfeel with soft carbonation but not flat. A delight.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Butters (3013) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUL 25, 2009
Sampled on draft at the Music City Brewers Festival. Clear amber pour with a decent white head. Sweet and vanilla and some corn and honey. One of the better blackstones I’ve had, but still nothing fabulous. Way too sickly sweet and cloying on the palate
1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 DerBiermeister (586) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - JUN 30, 2009
Had this on tap in Nashville at McFadden’s pub. Thoroughly mediocre beer with the only thing going for it some mild hops and malt flavor. Probably worse in the bottle.

Sampled at Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition festival. Pour golden with a good off-white head. Aroma has light clean malt, minimal hops and milky caramel. Medium grainy body with gentle carbonation. The taste has British yeast, lightly toasted malt and is a bit earthy. Okay beer.
