Our most popular brewmaster special brought back by overwhelming requests. A classic British nut brown ale. Full bodied, complex and interesting yet mild in flavor. Our interpretation of this style has distinctive hop aroma and flavor. (O.G.-1.052, IBUs 23)

12oz bottle via trade with Beer_Hawk! - Thanks Steve! - Pours brown with a short beige head that didn’t stay very long. Aroma of caramel, nuts, and a touch of brown sugar. Flavor is roasted nuts, caramel, chocolate without much hop presence. Medium bodied and creamy on the palate. Not bad.

(12oz bottle, thanks SpringsLicker) Small beige head atop a clear chestnut body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, some chocolate, roast. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, chocolate, light nut. Minimal bitterness. Light-medium body, slightly sticky.

Draft 5 oz sample at the brewpub, 5/14/06: Reddish brown with a roasty caramel nose. Despite the roasty aroma, the flavor is more sweet. Tasted like a malt ball.

(On tap) Beautiful, clear reddish brown with an off-white head. Malty nose with a vaguely burned edge. Medium-bodied with lots of roasted malt and a hint of nuts - perhaps even coffee. Dry finish. 300306

Dark, clear brown. Mild coffeeish aroma. Fairly complex. Overall it gives a smooth coffee and cocoa impression. Some musky malts bordering on a mild ale. Mildly astringent. Creamy mouthfeel. Finish quite bitter. No fruit or grassiness as with many other browns. Lightly sweet, acidic without tartness. Pretty good.

Dark stained oak body with an off white head. Aroma is negligible, slight maltiness comes up, but it took a few minutes with my nose in the glass to get that, really a non entity here aroma wise for me. Nut flavor comes out quickly, pecan pie came to mind, then I thought mo, just pecans, it doesn’t have that syrup sweetness that pecan pie has. A semi sweet caramel background props up the nut flavor and the hop finish accentuates nicely. A touch of citrus kind of watery grapefruit really adds to this. A thin and watery mouthfeel, but that’s all right, all beers don’t all need to be viscous, this is a good beer. Ap-4 ar-2 tas-7 pal-3 ov-15

12 oz Bottle. Thanks to Spring Licker, I believe. Chestnut pour with big particles. Burnt caramel malt, hickory stick, and some kind of nut or nut shell in the aroma. Burnt and roasted malts. Malty with light sweetness (nutty?). Medium-thin body, very light sharpness, but lightly creamy. Not bad and not great.

This was a nice find in Nashville while walking the strip. The only downside is that only the malts come through in the flavor. Still a great easy to drink brown ale.

Tap @ brewery. Transparent and magnifying ruby brown in color with a creamy grey sheet spanning the top for the head. Mild amaretto sweetness protrudes toward the nose, along with cherry toffee, crushed crystal malt and a tiny bit of shell less pecans dipped in cocoa butter. Wholesome, sweet malt complex turns over flavors akin to strawberry caramel nips. Sugary brown bread supported by a honeyed maple current, and some buttery pecans with cream-accented traits. A smidgeon of oiliness registers at the tongue’s tip. Glossy palate coating with a slight bitter crevice notched down the center of the tongue, automatically pressing it to the roof of the mouth. Sugar-coated bran flakes comprise the finish, reaffirming its status as a healthy contender. Well done.

12 oz bottle obtained in trade with illinismitty, thanks! Cellar temperature tasting in an Allagash stem glass. It pours a very dark, clear walnut-brown with a lasting little finger of off-white head....light toasted nut aroma, almonds and hazelnuts, lightly roasted grain and some vanilla....moderately sweet, slightly grapy front turns a bit sour at midpalate, with a fair bit of roast and oily nuttiness coming in near the finish, which is a tad astringent and drier than usual....moderate carbonation, fairly dry and mineralic, somewhat watery palate....a nice brown ale, nothing spectacular but with no huge problems, either.
