COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional beer style has enjoyed a revival in the past 15 years. Like all stouts, it features the coffee-like taste of roasted barley; what distinguishes oatmeal stout is the body and smoothness of oats combined with the sweetness of caramel malt. This batch is bittered with Northern Brewer hops, an English variety well suited to this style. As always it is unfiltered. (O.G. - 1.060, IBU's - 27)

a little light and watery, for any type of stout, but still enjoyable. Coffee notes on the nose, roasted barley, no hops. Tastes nice, roasty light coffee, but there just isn’t enough there, body or flavors. Average beer that, with some tweaks, could be awesome.

Aroma is roasted and a little sweet. Taste is sweeter than I expected but pretty balanced with that oatmeal creaminess.

12 oz. Opaque ebony with a lasting quarter inch of cream. Aroma of graham cracker, coffee, dark chocolate and toasted marshmallow. Tastes of dark chocolate, coffee grounds, lactose, tart berry. Near-medium body is a bit sweet, but has a nice roast for balance and light-medium carbonation.

Blac, with no head, which is kind of a warning sign. Smells like burnt coffee, and a little ashy. Flavor is more scorched coffee and toasty. Thin bodied.

12 oz bottle pours black with a off white Head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste is the malts, coffee and a hint of bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ar: Hint of light roast coffee and some ash. Ap: Black with brown highlights on the edges - medium light tan head with moderate retention, leaving a thin but solid cap of foam. T: Medium-sweet with a little coffee - very clean, some light caramel and smooth roast - a touch of spicy hop flavor with a medium bitterness - a little ash and caramel on the finish. P: Medium-full body, very silky and creamy - medium carbonation - finish is dry. O: This beer has some very good qualities - it looks good and has a really nice mouthfeel. However, the beer comes off as bland, as the roast is so restrained and there aren’t many other flavors to be found.

Transferred from old tasting notes. Tasted on tap at brewpub, Nashville, Tennessee, USA in standard pint glass. Poured an opaque, very dark brown, almost black color with creamy, full, beige head with good retention and even a little lace. Flavors and aromas characteristic of a good oatmeal stoat: malty, bready, caramelly, toasty, roasty, with balanced bitterness and hints of coffee, chocolate and dried dark fruit. Very good.
