Sweet, chalky, dry wood and chocolate flavors, even some coffee in there as well. Has the requisite sweetness, like brown ale, but more of the classic brown porter style, which is always nice to see. Strong with the charred malt flavors, decently hopped, moderately dry. Oaky, even. Coffee and chocolate in the finish, with some milk notes as well. Texture is moderately thin for the style, slightly syrupy in the lingering finish, though. BBB63 (3843), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jun 21, 2003 Dark brown with thin tan head, good lacing. Medium-bodied. Big time coffee and nutty aroma. Some hint of grapefruit and ripe pear. Twangy tasting with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Short finish with lingering bitterness and coffee tones. A well made porter.
