Canned, bottled & draught.

Bright amber colour; aromas of apple and pear; off-dry palate with crisp apple flavours.

Note: This is the export only version, which nowadays is the only one available at 6.0% (possibly lower on draught). Originally it was sold as Dry Blackthorn. Until 2009 it was 6.0% in can/bottle and 5.0% on draught. In the UK was then "reformulated" with a sweeter taste at a reduced abv of 4.7%. At some point prior to this the word "Dry" had been dropped from the name and renamed simply Blackthorn. Following a storm of protest in the area where it is made Dry Blackthorn was reinstated in itís original form at 5.0% in 2010 but only available in the English West Country.
If you found this in North America itís more than likely this one (but pay careful attention to the abv). If you found it in the UK itís one of the others. The version available in other export markets is believed to be based on the 4.7% UK variant. Again, check ABV.

Probably my favorite draught english cider. Its pretty good from a bottle but better on draft. Good balance of sweet and dry.

Let me get this out of the way...I AM A STRONGBOW DRINKER. As a change of pace, the bar I frequent brought Blackthorn in instead of Strongbow. WOW! There is so much more flavour- so much more...everything! This makes Strongbow seem like Blackthorn Light. It is, I must admit, a great deal sweeter, which I don't enjoy, but it's worth the trade in aroma, body and taste. Don't be afraid of the lack of bubbles either- but insist on a chilled glass- Enjoy!

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2003 Wow....this is now my favorite cider. I tried this one recently for the first time and was blown away. I tried it in the bottle and would love to try in on draft. An incredibly carbonated, slightly champagne like feel, but a wine like aftertaste.

I come from Cider country in SW England, and I can tell you this is a great Cider. Sweet Ciders are terrible and people donít drink very much of them. The Dry Ciders are the best, and Blackthorn " Rocket Fuel" is one of the bigger and better names. There are more and more Ciders on the market, but most are only available in the UK.

The best cider Iíve had, although I havenít seen it around here in a while. Itíll be a cold day in Hell, though, when I mix it with Guinness. Update: I found it again. Good color, not too fizzy. A bit of lambic-ish funky aroma.

I donít know why this is getting such bad ratiings. Its better than other ciders Iíve had. Its less carbonated. And drier. And its got more fruit than most ciders with a 6% abv. It reminds me of a white wine. Bottles at Redlight Redlight in Winter Park, Fl.
