Cask conditioned at The Victoria, Birmingham, on 08/11/11.
Rich brown ale with slightly hoppy, resinous aroma. Good malt weight flavour-wise with well balanced hops complementing but not overpowering. Spice and liquorice notes very pleasant on the aftertaste.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask conditioned Handpump Far From The Madding Crowd Oxford. A chestnut coloured beer with an off-white head and lace. Superb citrus hops throughout with bready malts in the style of a US amber. Excellent mélange of hops, malt and fruit. Very well brewed and tasty.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask @ The Market porter, London. Clear light orange, small white lacing. Smell and taste malts, grains, also a bit cellar and musty: don’t like it. Low carbo, low body, very dead. Not good imo.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Amber with no head. Not sure why I didn’t get on too well with this, but I found it over resinous a quite flat. The hops are there, but not really to my taste.
