3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at CBC Clerko, 14/07/15 as Salopian HOTD - no mention of Blackwater.
Clear golden blonde with a decent off white covering.
Nose is citric peel, tangerine, grass, pale malt.
Taste comprises grassy notes, orange, light vanilla, straw, bread dough.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close.
Decent enough golde but not as good as Salopians normally hoppier numbers.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
20th July 2015
Craft Clerkenwell. Cask. No mention of ’Blackwater’ here, check the pumpclip photo Almost clear gold beer, thin white head. Palate is light and fairly dry. Just a smidge of carbonation. Light pale malts. Touches of orange and orange pith. Dry finish. Peel bitter linger. Shabby condition holding this one back, not Salopian’s finest.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask @ Craft Clerkenwell. Listed as a Salopian brew, FWIW. Gold pour with a small head. Nose is pretty basic. Pleasant lemon cakes and sugar cookie. Pale malt. Juicy citrus hop flavor. Toasted white bread. Accents of pine. Light and zippy. Easy to drink. Good G/B as always from this underrated brewery.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned at The Wild Boar, Warwick, Warks. Gold with white head. This certainly showed up as a particularly hoppy beer, nicely bitter and a hint of floweriness. Lasting and fairly crisp on the palate. It’s a very decent beer.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Hand-pulled half pint on 3 Oct 2013 at the Crown Inn, Oakengates (one of 34 different cask offerings during a beer festival).
Pours a light golden colour with a white covering.
The nose and taste were hop lead, some citrus notes and herbal hints. The malts arrived later, giving a mildy sweet depth. Subtle and delicate flavours, others might say weak or even bland tasting.
I’d have preferred more oomph in my ’Hair of the Dog’ to be honest.
