Handpull, The Crown, Nuneaton, 13/08/11. Straw with a fine white collar. Light egg and lime aroma, some pine leaking out. Really good piney hop and soft biscuit on the palate. Some orange rind and plastic. Held its own respectably well against the Oakham and Dr Morton’s.

Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, kridt - limestone / chalk, spicy notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to fizzy. [20120120]

Cask (Live & Let Live, Cambridge)
6 Swee citrussy aroma, lots of lemon.
3 Pale yellow, tiny persistent head.
7 Tasty sweet fruity citrus retronasals. Citrussy piney, limey, and lemony.
4 Soft palate, pleasant carbonation. Lovely lemony finish.
14 Anna spotted butter, but I didn’t. Very yummy session bitter, a great example of a golden ale.

Bottle. Labelled as Northern Brewing rather than Blakemere. Bronze and clear with no head. A bit too thin for my taste. Some spiceness and pleasant bitterness. Nothing to write home about.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Gold with a small white head. Soapy hop aroma with a sort of wheaty background. Citrus and grain in the taste. Some bitterness. Not really your average golden. Not bad.
