2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 yayforbeer (744) - Orange Park, Florida, USA - OCT 25, 2005
Bottle lot 03-12-99. This beer found its way into a “Beers of the World” sampler pack (?). Pale yellow beer with a thin white head and a bit of lacing. Faint lemony citrus aroma. Flavor was also lemony, smooth and lightly tart. Certainly not the best witbier, but different and somewhat interesting. Odd in many ways.

bottle : 3 - 12 - 99 ..... Cloudy Yellow pour with lots of debris. I mean Jesus must have shook his dandruff in this batch before bottling. Small head. Mildly fizzy..Smooth orange and lemon aroma and taste with a smite of apple. Also wheat and some sugar. A little soapy. This was a random beer I picked up along with another random beer that must have made it into the stock by accident. hooray!. The bottle has been recycled(the wear) which is a rare site stateside. I will agree with the reviews prior about the age taking away from what otherwise might have been a better beer.......****Cool. My rating gave it an over-all Percentile of 29 from nothing****
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 JoeM500 (1894) - Crown Point, Indiana, USA - DEC 19, 2004
1999 little bottle with the funny label, a handwritten "5" right under where the waters meet(?). Cloudy yellowish amber with fast rising bubbles, fizzy. Loads of orange and lemon in the nose, but also some strange cardboard nastiness lurking underneath. Fizzy and spritzy, citrusy and starchy. Wheatiness is long in the middle, that papery off taste comes in at the finish. Not as bad as I suspected, I also see that the new bottles are 12 ouncers, but no longer distributed stateside, which is a shame because their website shows many styles brewed!
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 PorterPounder (4105) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUL 7, 2004
Batch 03-12-99 Aroma of freshly squeezed orange juice. Bright yellow pour, looks like champagne, wtih fewer bubbles and a few chunks floating about. Slight white spritzy head. Tart, lemony flavor, lifeless mouthfeel. Age has probably gotten the better of this one.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 argo0 (9222) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 6, 2004
(250ml, 1999(?)) Cloudy lemon body with medium white head. Aroma is medium sweet, wheat, orange. Taste is medium sweet, orange, wheat. The probable age of this beer may explain the lack of crispness or tartness.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MikeF (538) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - APR 18, 2004
Very white fizzy head. Very clear pale yellow in color. Slightly spicey and malty aroma. Crisp flavor of malt and citrus. Somewhat sour crisp finish.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 igneous1 (1418) - Davenport, Iowa, USA - APR 2, 2004
pale hazy yellow color, no real head. aroma was very woody, with very slight citrus character, not much in the spice. flavor is also woody, not that interesting. not really thin, just not an interesting flavor, maybe a little grapey.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Drew (2411) - Kent, Ohio, USA - FEB 8, 2004
I was surprised that this poured so crystal clear and golden, but at the same time was so full of flavor. Coriander, melons, lightly citrus, dry finish. Beautiful beer, ugly label.
2.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Aurelius (3143) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 30, 2003
Batch 3-12-99, sampled 9-29-03. Superb aroma, really rich. I was bitterly disappointed when I drank it -- fizzy, some yeasty musk and fruitiness, but pretty bland. Some oxidized/smokey flavors that I'll chalk up to the beer being old, but there wasn't any protein drop in the bottom. Appearance dings for the 8 oz bottle, and the label, which gives the impression that a sewer line ruptured someplace in Europe.

I wanted very much to like this, as I love Wits. But it was not to be...first off, it was way past expiration. Second, it was incredibly, just flat-tasting somehow, some alcohol, but just watery acididity. No nose to speak of. But it wasn’t soured or anything, it really felt to me like that’s what this wit was after. But who knows. If you’ve got a bottle you’re not drinking my address is...
