DuffMan (2723), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Dec 23, 2005 Opalescent, opaque yellow. Sweet aromas of wheat, citrus, and spice. Delicious flavours of cardamom, orange, vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper. Light bodied but full flavoured and very well balanced. Excellent. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Dec 9, 2005 Bottle (from Asda, BBE Jul 06). Citrus aromas mostly lemon with some sweet orange and tart lime, light banana and some spicy pepper. Drinkable and well balanced. ACtually better from the fridge - brings the fresh acidity to the fore rather than slightly flaccid malts. sunevdj (1765), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Nov 25, 2005 Pours a hazy yellow wit a white head. Sweet with aromas of yeast, wheat, citrusfruits and apple. Shoort bitter finish. Very nice. Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Nov 2, 2005 Beers of europe. Pours a nice thick creamy head which stays around for most of the beer. Aroma is citrus and wheaty and corriander. Ttaste is smooth with loman and orange being dominant. Very easy drinkin witbier with a thin refreshing palate. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Nov 1, 2005 On tap. Very unclear yellow colour with a nice head. A lot of corians and hints of citrus in the aroma. Very pleasant flavour of corians, orange and some hops, very tasteful. Overall a very easydrinking witbeer. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia Oct 26, 2005 Must start by saying that I’m not the biggest Witbier fan, so I judged this as openly as possible. Tasted from the bottle and poured into a tulip glass. Dull, wheaty yellow body, opaque, with a broad, cauliflower head initially forming but later dwindling back to a lather of soap that left some lace. Soft, fruity sweet, lemon, grapefruit and apple nose with a light hint of fresh herbs and candi-sugar. Not what I expected for the style. Initial champagne-like prickly carbonation moved through into tart white wine notes on the tongue. It quickly mellowed and I could take in some flavour. Quite wheaty and almost starchy with some castor sugar flavour upfront that added sweetness to this ultra-light bodied Wit. Reminded me of lemon squash soda as it was slightly sour and heavily charged in carbonation. Finish was very short and crisp, and overall it was one that just didn’t match me. Not my cup of beer anyway. Not the best from this fine brewery!!! (25 & 33cL, both BBE 09/06) ಠַಠ (1375), San Francisco, California, USA Oct 18, 2005 Bottle. Hazy Hoegaarden-looking. Slight vanilla, some spiciness. Lactic but in a good way that mixed with the banana flavor quite well. Mild finish, just-right mouthfeel. A very good example of a lighter weizen beer. Sweet finish, well-done. Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England Oct 15, 2005 750ml bottle from Asda. Cloudy witbier. Aroma is wheaty, spicy. Flavour is wheaty, fairly sweet with spice and fruit. Not a whole lot going on but a good quality, highly drinkable beer.
