3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 rickgordon (3758) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 8, 2005
On draught at Delirium Café, Göteborg.
Hazy pale golden. Big fruity(banana, canned fruits) nose. Butter/Diacetyl lurks behind. The flavour is immensely big. Mouthfeel is light. Taste is smallish notes of choriander with that curacao touch and an underlying sourish tone. I found this very estery, although "it is not supposed to be so". This very tasty Wit very well held up to the expectations of the opening of Delirium Café in Göteborg!

Bottle. Light cloudy orange with a disappearing head. Aromas are sweet and floral with wheat and some citrus zest. Flavours are soft wheat, quite dry followed by sweet lemon. The finish is dry and very floral. Has a good sparkle and is refreshing.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 sayravai (4526) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 29, 2005
(Draught@Delirium Cafe, Brussels) Opaque yellow with a small, firm, white head and lace. Wheaty, flowery, slightly sweet aroma. Quite plain, lemony and slightly papery flavor. Light-bodied palate with foamy carbonation. A plain and quite taste-/characterless wit.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2005 On tap at the Jaguar Cafe, Montpellier. Looks like Hoegaarden, and is served in one of that brewer’s glasses. Quite a hard, crispy edge to the flavour (a sneaky bit of bitterness). Smooth and shiny mouthfeel. Good lemon and wheat, good balance. Great Wit, served in good nick.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pale, hazy, yellow beer. Very fruity and citrusy -almost perfumy. No bitterness. An excellent and very typical Witbier. 171197
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 madquacker (854) - Canberra ACT, AUSTRALIA - APR 22, 2005
Cloudy appearance. Aromas of grapefruit. A robust full bottld wheat beer without much subtleness. Very goof value for the price.
2.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Nate (3026) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 21, 2005
Aroma is exactly that of a dish of canned apricots. Fruity and sweet, very nice, though just a bit buttery. Hazy golden yellow with thin white head. Watery body with medium-high carbonation. Starts mildly fruity, with apricot and citrus, and some spicy character. Chalky yeasty bitterness toward finish and into the after. Overall, it’s rather watery and not that colorful. Mild acidity. Disappointing taste after that nice aroma.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 highlandlad (1319) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - FEB 14, 2005
Featherweight Belgian witbier that ranks high on my list of favourite summer quenchers. The palate is a little skinny for some tastes and the finish a little abrupt but it’s hard to beat when the mercury is pushing into the thirties. It pours a cloudy lemon colour with a healthy white head. The nose has mouth-watering grapefruit notes and a little spice. The body is gossamer-thin and quenching. There are hints of banana and tea and the mildest of finishes. Nothing very complex here but it’s very more-ish. (Bottle)
