COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first beer in Blank Slateís "Traveling IPA" series. Autumn is a time of change and mother nature is at a fork in the road as the bright summer gives way to fallís darker colors. This beer sits squarely at the fork where darker malts and brighter hops meet. Munich and CaraRed malts give it an amber color and bigger malt presence than a standard IPA. Generous amounts of Citra and Centennial hops remind you that itís still an "India" style beer nonetheless.

Draft at Cincinnaitís First Craft Beer Only Oktoberfest on October 6, 2012. Large off-white head, dark amber/red color, very good bittersweet aroma--canít quite pinpoint the nature of the sweetness, delicious and very well balanced bittersweeet flavor. Kind of an amber IPA. The best of the three very good beers Iíve had from Blank Slate to date (not counting a collaboration with Triple Digit).

Crimson red pour. Nice pine, resin, moderate bitterness. Yeah, this is pretty good. Medium body.

4/22/2016: Yet another beer Iíve recently had again and canít believe that Iíve never logged a rating for it (but in all fairness, I have dozens of notebooks from past years that have never been uploaded and there was a long period that I just stopped rating period)... Color is amber to dull red, large beige head; toasted maltiness with lots of caramelization paired with candied red grapefruit, a hint of resin and has a nice earthy, almost nutty quality to it; medium body, smooth and kind of has a creamy texture to it; this is definitely not the "standard" IPA nor is it quite a PacNW-style Red IPA, so it seems to be something in he middle, but itís pretty good nonetheless Draught at Nation Bar & Grill in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Draft pour. The beer is a clear copper with a white head of foam. The aroma has grapefruit rind and orange zest. The taste is moderately bitter with a juicy sweetness to it. Medium body and medium to higher carbonation. Decent beer.

So, this is a solid American Amber. Normally not huge on reds, but Scott knocks this one out of the park.

On tap at Adriaticos pizza in Cincinnati. Random note: tropical fruit grapefruit. juicy, grassy, kind of awesome. Iíve had a lot of beer today and this still registers... ultimate compliment. - 7.6

Tap at firehouse. Fresh citrusy hoppy nose. Nice lingering bitterness. Malty edge but not quite as malty as color would suggest. Outstanding offering, Scott! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Rhinegeist Brewery. Pours a clear dark amber with a thick white head. Aroma of grassy hops, bitter hops, hop oils. Super hoppy aroma. Flavor of grassy hops, citrus, hop oils, caramel malt, and bitter hops. Very hoppy IPA, nice and drinkable, super hoppy. 8/4/8/4/15 (3.9/5)

Red IPA. Really great balance of malt and hops. Really smooth, sessionable. Mouthfeel is excellent. Not overly sweet, gentle hop finish.

Draft sample at Listermann Oktoberfest pours clear brown. Nose cat pee (in a good way) pine and resin. Taste lots of the same flavors from the nose pine, resin, some balancing sweetness. Pleasing bitter on the finish

Amber color with a fluffy off white head. Bright orange peel and tangerine nose. The flavor is dominated by juicy citrus hops, with lots of orange peel red grapefruit, tangerine, and some tropical fruit notes. Plenty of malts underneath, but this is all about the hops. Very smooth beer. The bar tender called it an india amber ale, whatever that is. It is a nice smooth hoppy beer.
