COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blank Slate’s description, from queencitydrinks.com: “It is a Brown Porter that uses Cherrywood Smoked Malt. The beer comes in at about 5.5% ABV and should start rolling out around the end of the month. It’s not meant to be a smoke “bomb” like a Rauchbier and the Cherrywood malt gives it a distinctly different character that is not as “ashy” or “bacony” as the standard beechwood smoked malt. There will be a special version of it released at Hopnosis that will be a one keg only release. It will be called “Fumar Chile” so I’ll let your imagination figure out what that means!”

Draft sample. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average creamy off-white head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted smoked malt and chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted smoked sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Sold drinkable brew.

Snifter on tap at Hopnosis 2012. Kind of a clear dark red / brown color. Good thin off-white head. Decent lace. Really nice chile in the nose. Light chocolate, some smoke, with a good spicy kick in the finish, that lasts long into the aftertaste. Wow! It’s strong enough to savor, but not so much as to be uncomfortable, in my opinion. Good creamy medium body, light carbonation. Nice, smooth and tasty. Nice chocolate. I really enjoyed this one, probably my favorite Blank Slate beer so far
