COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brown Porter that uses Cherrywood Smoked Malt. The beer comes in at about 5.5% ABV and should start rolling out around the end of the month. It’s not meant to be a smoke “bomb” like a Rauchbier and the Cherrywood malt gives it a distinctly different character that is not as “ashy” or “bacony” as the standard beechwood smoked malt.

On tap at Brewriver. Funny how the description says this is not a smoke bomb but is still smokier than other breweries’ attempts at a pure smoked beer. This is a brown porter, so the lighter body helps the complex cherrywood notes come through. Flavor is almost pure malt and smoke with notes of campfire, meat, toffee and earth. Finish is a little lactic. Faint metallic notes keep this from being a knockout, but it’s still a great beer.

On tap at Cock & Bull. Standard serving was a 20oz but I requested a 10oz. Clear dark brown / red color. Nice off-white head. Minimal loose lace. Milk chocolate sweet taste, that is a bit too much for me without that awesome chile kick that was in the Fumar version. Light carbonation, kind of creamy lighter to medium body. Decent porter, as it is

Draft sample. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average creamy off-white head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted smoked chocolate malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted smoked sweet malt flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Sold drinkable brew.

Draft to pint. Looks solid; a semi-transparent brown with light beige lacing. Smells and tastes solid too; malty, smoky, and a bit woody. Avrrage on the palate. A good take on the style.
