COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Eastern Germany there is an old, nearly forgotten style of wheat beer known as Gose (pronounced "goes-uh"). Traditionally brewed with Coriander and Salt and fermented to produce a slight sourness, this beer has a tart, refreshing finish. Our version uses German "Sauermalz" and a little Caraway to go along with the Coriander and just a touch of Sea Salt. The result is a crisp, refreshing wheat ale that is just the thing when you are "out and about" on a warm day.

Sample at World of Beer Easton on 8/8/14. Clear yellow pour with a thick white head. Aroma of coriander, orange, malt and creamy wheat. Sweet malt flavor with pineapple, tropical fruit and orange accents before a semi-spiced finish.

Taster - nose is funky and grassy. As I read the description, Iím like uh huh uh huh. Spritzy and almost tart. Interesting but not exactly something Iíll have again.

This is a sour? A Gose? I would think a pale ale or even a saison. Very drinkable. I mean if itís mislabeled it is a solid beer, if they are going for a Gose, they missed the mark.

phaleslu (6608) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 8, 2013
Draft at Fifty Fest. Pours a mostly clear gold with a small off-white head that laces the glass. Aroma of wheat, pale and cereal malts, faint citrus, and light coriander. Flavor of wheat, salt, lemon (more than in the nose), coriander, and caraway seed. Light-bodied, with a wheat, dry, and eventually salty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The gose characteristics emerge more after it begins to warm. Still, seems a bit off style.

Tap. Poured hazy yellow color with an average white frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate herbal aroma. Light to medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Light to medium salt sour flavor with a medium sour & sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft beer.

Draft to taster at Fifty Westís Fifty Fest (shared by phaleslu). Looks solid; a mostly transparent orange with white lacing and lively carbonation. Smells of hope and pale malt; mild salt too. Average on the palate. Decent beer, but not a gose.

Draft at Listermann Volksfest. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma has a tart, mild citrus, wheat, mildly spicy showcasing coriander inviting nose. The flavor is much of the same; mildly tart lemony citrus, wheat, salty, coriander, bready, comes back to a nice tang with just a splash of caraway. I enjoy trying anything these guys have to offer.
