2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours from a bottle a turbid straw, with many small particles. Aroma hits with a strong citrus and pine. Flavor is a sort of thin, one-dimensional hoppiness, but at least its a good hoppiness. Palate is a little thin, falling off toward the end with a mild pleasant bitterness but no lasting mouthfeel. S’okay.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber. Virtually all of the glass was foam on the first pour. It slowly faded. I smell classic west coast hops that include tropical and citrus. It is a sweeter aroma. Those are tasted along with floral notes. Melons and honeysuckle. Malts generally stay back but move to the front in the finish and include a little caramel. This is a soft and gentle beer and the hops are not in your face. It is nicely understated.

12 fl. oz. on tap @ Russell House Tavern. Pours hazy yellow with a medium head. Aroma is quite fruity malts. Flavor is fruity malts with hops. Nice balance. Good stuff.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
This is for the double. Very malt forward in taste and smell, more so than I would have expected based on experience with the 1x IPA. The alcohol is there but covered by the malt. Long lingering hoppy bitterness. Okay, but not my style.

3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Not exactly the beer tasted, as the Double was not in the app.
Medium gold, dense lace.
Full body, smooth texture, intense but not extreme flavor, some heat but little carbonation, long palate.
Good, probably better if I hadn't tasted it after the Dark Horse Safety Meeting, qhich overshadowed it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The honey malt and lemon from the hops really stand out. Crisp and refreshing, an enjoyable and easy to drink IPA with plenty of bitterness

(Rating #5540)

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pours with a full head and nice hop aroma. Then taste is very happy but not so much they overwhelm a good flavor.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber into a glass. Pours a cloudy Orange, with yellow and vanilla clouds. Aroma is orange spice and peel, hoppy and citrus. Taste is mellow hops that explode in the aftertaste followed by dry and bitter citrus, grapefruit, melon, etc. Drinks bitter and light, a nice example of west coast IPA in the east. Fun and enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Grapefruit and sandy hop resins move atop supporting cereals in this comfy India Pale Ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy blond and its orange hues.
-This is a very nice brew even though it is not nearly as intense aromatically-speaking as the average ’new generation’ American IPA.
-The bitterness balances out the back end.
-Malt flavors are somewhat veiled.
On tap at Armsby Abbey.
