UPDATED: JAN 6, 2005 Blatz is good beer when compared with others in its price range. Has a nice full flavor when compared with bud light or natty. It has a decent frothy head with a mild body and light smooth hop finish. Nice average beer that doesn’t need to be analyzed to be enjoyed.

People make fun of Blatz, but I rather enjoy this beer. Its cheap but its very drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2008 Blatz still tastes like the lager I first tasted as a kid. It’s definitely got more body and flavor than the average U.S. standard these days. The body is full, almost heavy compared to a Bud or Miller. It’s a little lighter on the hops than I’d like but it’s always enjoyable. Had a longneck at a bar in Port Clinton, Ohio recently that was very enjoyable.
Update 3-28-08. Had the canned version. It was much lighter in color and body, not nearly as flavorful. I’m not sure about their date coding system but I suspect this sample may be old.

A bit watered down with a unpleasant skunky aftertaste. Will probably never drink again.

This is another example of watered down, month old beer. I found it amazing how if you leave a bottle of MGD out without a lid for a month, it taste just like Blatz.

this brew is best sampled after you just finished a six pack of some other beer. it's the only way you can tolerate it! some nostalgia here allowed me to score this beer so high! it's one of the first beers i sipped and probably what kept me away from beer for so long!

This canned brew poured a medium head of finely sized white colored mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a poor lace and a very thin weak looking straw yellow colored uncarbonated body. The aroma was that of a very mild malt hop and was almost non-existant. The mouthfeel was fizzy, tingly and was otherwise smooth while quickly diminishing in the finish with a mild malt hop aftertaste. The flavor was mild with malt and very mild hops.

I drank more of this in college watching the Penguins win two Stanley cups than I can even think of remembering. I actually like the taste of Blatz. It is not weak and it is definitely sweetly malted. I haven't had this beer for a long time, but there are definitely beers out there that suck more that Blatz.
