UPDATED: APR 9, 2007 Another brand from the distant past. I’m from Milwaukee and I ought to know. Blatz Beer tastes flat, wherever you go. Watery and crisp like, less filling and clear. Blatz WAS Milwaukee’s historical beer. :-p All joking aside, today’s Blatz beer is a generic American light beer whose making money on very distant past reputation. Pours a near crystal clear color with no head. No aroma. Tastes like liquid corn flakes with some sweet aftertaste. An excellent college party beer at best.

About time I got some of this one. This poured from the can with a pale yellow body and a thin white head. The aroma was grainy corn with some hint of cheap perfume. The taste had some dry corn meal and a finish that is a little meaty and soapy. This is not too bad.

This canned brew poured a medium head of finely sized white colored mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a poor lace and a very thin weak looking straw yellow colored uncarbonated body. The aroma was that of a very mild malt hop and was almost non-existant. The mouthfeel was fizzy, tingly and was otherwise smooth while quickly diminishing in the finish with a mild malt hop aftertaste. The flavor was mild with malt and very mild hops.

Clear yellow color. Smells like an old grain silo and tastes like rain water that’s been sitting in 90 degree heat for a week. Blech.

Had straight from the can. Not great... not terrible. About what I expected. Glad to have tried it, though.

In the can. Thanks to KJ. Pours a pale golden yellow with a thick frothy flourescent white head. Vegetable broth aroma. Flavor is very corn grainy with a medium palate that does not seem as harsh as many of this ilk. Can’t get over the boiled vegetable flavors however. This is likely the only beer name that captures the sound one makes when you’ve had too any of these.

I have good memories of drinking this from my grandfather’s glass. It had a beautiful gold color and lots of bubbles, forming a thick, tall white head. It no longer has this impressive appearance, but the flavor is what I remember. It has some corn with a dry maltiness. Served cold, it isn’t bad at all. Much lower carbonation than I remember, and no thick, tall, head. Actually it tastes better straight from the can.

Can. Small white head that was mostly lasting, fine-small sized bubbles, sparse lacing, transparent, carbonated, and a yellow hue. Malty and corn aroma. Sweet, malty taste. Tingly mouthfeel.

Pours a little darker than most american lagers. Aromas of corn, hops, and you know the rest. Flavor is a little more pronounced in this lager. Just a bit more flavor than most.

Classic can design! Hmmm.... what’s this I have in my mouth? Yellow, large bubbles, watery, corn, sweetness... cheap and not very nice.
