4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Lemons and grass on the nose, peppery dry malt flavor. Medium high carbonation, finish is very dry. This is everything I’d want in a saison.

Clear golden with a huge, fluffy white head. Aroma and taste of citrus, hay, some light funk, yeast, lemon and some lime peel. Fairly soft mouthfeel and a dry finish. Very refreshing and nicely drinkable.

Huge head. Tropical and pear and spice in aroma and flavor. Bone dry with crisp thin finish. Wouldn’t have guessed that this was brewed with Amarillo. Very crisp noble hop character to me. Great saison. Like foret but much drier.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
P: Hazy gold with a huge head. S: Just like a classic saison. Wheat, spices, yeast, banyard funk, earthy and lemony. Nothing weird or anything its just seductive and complex. T: Whoa, lots of spices, earthy, herbs, wheat, lemony with semi-bitterness. M: Light with high carbonation which makes it a bit hard to get in depth with this one. O: Just a good saison.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at Armsby Abbey, 2/8/14 and draught at Deep Ellum, 2/10/14
Perfect Blaugies-esque pour leaves a thick, white head on top that is retained throughout, with high clarity and plentiful carbonation. Drab bronze color to the beer.
Lime-zest and very slight band-aid phenols in the nose, with a touch of cheesiness and leather. Yep, this is Blaugies. Absolutely divine and it’s good to see they havent changed for the worse. I havent really had much of their stuff since ca. 2006, or rather, much new stuff. I’ve been drinking the 2004 Saison d’epautre and it’s absolutely stunning, even at 8 years of age.
This is very similar, in the yeast and malt profile especially, though this one has a bit of a candy-like/powdered sugar sweetness that was the only drawback I found. The hops are certainly more aggressive here than in a classic Blaugies, but still reserved and enjoyable, with very light lime-like citrus, deep, lush and juicy, leaving floral aromatics on the nose and in the mouth. Perfectly carbonated to break up the medium body, with a supple texture. Can’t get enough of these guys. As far as house yeast character goes, they have to be top 5 in the world. Awesome.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thanks to Charles at Broue Ha ha in Gatineau.
Aroma is mainly spices and yeast with banana. clove, cinnamon, orange and tropical fruits. Superbe olfactif complexe.
Appearance: Pale blond, yellowish, slightly hazy, with an enormous foamy head lasting for a long time. Not a lot of lacing though.
Taste: Spring field freshness attack with a lot of herbs, flowers and hop mix close to perfection. Malt provides a good sugar basis with some honey flavor. Bitterness is botanical with fresh herbs, flowers such as rose water. Texture is thin, sparkling is active, balance is perfect.
Une superbe bière rafraichissante, qui sent le printemps et qui rappelles la fraicheur des herbes champêtres.
