(Backlog ZBF 2013, ZO 28). ¿Bottle? One of the day’s more simply standout brews in the still understated undercategory of US-dryhopped BE saisons (cf. Jandrain, De la Senne). Spelt-dry hayish malts lay a fine, yeast-chalky base for the Amarillo citrus rinds to liven and freshen up. Subtle balance between exotic bitterness and the majestic dust of the terroir. Hinting at my ideal sessioning beer. More saisons like this with broader distribution please, quick.

Bottle. Pours with a hazed golden hue with a massive white head. Aromas show an initial reason to not send bottles long distances in green glass. Light struck (a bit), funky, grassy, peppery, tangerine, a bit carbonic. Some spicy notes, yeast phenols, coriander, grassy. Flavors are dry, peppery, delicious yeast character, dried apricot and white pepper. Floral, lightly candied orange rind. Lively carbonation, crisp, dry. Very nice to drink other than the light struck character. Better than expected.

Clear golden color with a thick and fluffy white head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of funky citrus, hay and grainy malt. Light to medium body with flavors of herbal yeast, citrusy hops and bready malt. The finish is floral with a peppery yeast and hops aftertaste. Good beer all around.

This one poured a hazy yellow color with a wite head. Aroma was of light spices, grassy, fruity notes. Falvor was similar, yeast, pale malt, grassy and rustic. Pretty solid saison.

750 ml bottle. Aroma is mostly yeast driven with citrus, especially lemon but also some overripe stone fruit and pear. Moderate bread notes with some phenolic notes of white pepper, lemongrass and cilantro. I don’t really get a strong Amarillo kick in the aroma. Pours a fairly cloudy, pale, yellow-gold with a big pillowy white head that had really good retention. High lacing with faint legs. Flavor has a light tartness to it with some sweet stone fruit and citrus fruit notes upfront. Mid palate you pick up the phenolic notes and malt character - bread, coriander and lemongrass. Metallic, hard water quality that you can taste in the beer. Medium bitterness that dries out the taste and lingers along with some lemongrass and citrus. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a very nice Saison, but I don’t pick up much of the Amarillo character. Instead I get a ton of citrus and phenolics from the yeast along with some mineral notes from the water.
