Pours a hazy copper color with a sustaining tan head. Smell is caramel malt, deep fruit a bit of spice and yeast. Taste is rich caramel malt, tart fruit, some spice and yeast ending dry crisp and fruity. Light/medium body with average carbonation level. A very nice malt forward saison.

Draft at Eulogy. Hazy dark orange pour. Overflowing foamy head. Ruby red fruits. Spicy iced tea. Sage. Rose water. Sugar plums. Clove. Cinnamon. Blood oranges. Slight Brett funk. Palate feels a bit muddled. Finish is smooth though there is a peppery afterbite. Unusual red spicy Saison. Note: Seeing some wide discrepancy in the description of this brew (even as to whether the color is blonde or dark copper) such that there may be some mixup between 2 versions. The one I rated was billed as La Moneuse Special Winter Ale.

On tap at Monk’s. Pours amber with a white head. Aroma is earthy, spice, toast and floral. Taste is sweet with a funky tartness. Medium bodied that drinks lighter then it feels. Very nice.

Bouteille 750 ml. Robe ambrée et reflets rubiconds. Mince collet blanc.

Amber with a generous white head that lasts a good while. Light caramel and honeyish notes dominates the aromas. Lively carbonation, light to medium body, sweet malt palate finishing on a mineral note and a slightly diluted finish. The 8% of alcohol are totally hidden here. Really feels like a 5% beer. Not bad but not as good as the classy Moneuse.

Hazy copper color beneath a massive frothy off-white head. Nice rustic yeasty aroma with notes of bread dough, and some musty basement. Earthy, mineral laden flavors, lead into a light herbal hop presence. A little bit of bready malt, but fairly dry overall.

Brown with a red hue, this beer smell like a damp cellar. It also has a distictive wet hay aroma. Pours with a huge head and the bottle is slow gushing right now. Taste is spicy and mouthfeel is realy dry. Carbonation is high and totally appropriate to me. An OK beer overall, nothing too fancy though.

An interesting, if not a little boring Sour-Like ale. Pours a beautiful red color with a white head. Not much of any smell. Taste is surprisingly subtle. A little bit of cherries, and a sour finish. Had on tap at Mill Valley Beer Works. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour on tap at Falling Rock, dark orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought rich burnt caramel, toffee, some sugary notes with lots of red and dark fruits, lots of ginger, cinnamon, and clove notes in there. Taste is very rich, some ginger, clove, cinnamon, hints of caramel, toffee, some sugary notes as well, going into more sweet notes with dark and red fruits, finishing sweet.

Bottle. Beautiful copper red with foamy head. Aroma is quite complex with classic farmhouse (wet hay, dusty attic, farmhouse yeast) and fruity malts. The marriage remains the same for taste as the funkiness of the yeast blends with red fruits acidity. Lively carbonation and full bodied. Without being phenomenal, it is indeed a solid brew. I woudn’t worry so much about the previous rater (tom10101) as he tends to underrate. I also suspect a considerable variation from bottles as I found the regular Moneuse to be bland. I will have to revisit.
