Earthy brew with lotsa musty, yeasty character. Thin bodied, smoothly hopped, with a good head - ultimately without much to grab onto other than its farmhouse ale aromas and a nice sour finish. Could use some fruitiness or sweetness for a fuller mouthfeel, especially for a Winter brew. Compare (unfavorably) to Fantome Black Ghost - a Flanders red.

Notes from early 90s. Had several issues from 75cl bottle. Dark golden color. Aroma’s: herbs & spices, some fruit sourness. Flavor is moderate bitter & moderate sweet. Quite strong alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Finish is moderate to full bitter. Pretty good and original (back then).

Bue en bouteille de 75cl ŕ la brasserie. Couleur ambrée, peu de mousse mais trčs grosse effervescence. Nez sur l’acidité trčs prégnante. En bouche attaque acide citronnée, puis continuité sur le fer et la savon.

Draft. Plenty of warming spice aromas: clove, nutmeg, and coriander. Lots of esters, slides on the palate, and rich-yet-balanced. Toast and dark caramel malts.

Hömpölygő habbal tör ki a palackból, annál visszafogottabb illatokat elénk tárva. Fanyar hangulatú, élesztős árnyalatú belga benyomások, amikhez üde, könnyed, de tartalmas ízvilág csatlakozik. A fortyogó élesztő alapvetően uralja a képet, savanykás maláta és füves komló egészítik ki a nem kimondottan ünnepi hangulatoktól harsogó, mégis kellően összetett és elmélyült kortyolgatásra alapot adó főzet jellegét.

Backlog rating. 75cl bottle shared at the Chriso’s May tasting, London. It pours a murky brown color with a medium beige head. Foam was previously gushing, so pay attention to this one when opening it. Aroma is quite sweet and malty, grainy, spicy, with notes of toffee, ripe fruits, ried fruits, mixed nuts, rye bread. Taste is again medium sweet and lightly tangy in the finish, with more notes of toffee, figs, ripe pears, light peppery esters and biscuity malts. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and creamy texture. Overall, quite tasty
