La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers’ family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours hazy amber with a fluffy head that soon sttled to little islands of thin layers of scum. The aroma is candied fruit most subdued. The taste is malty, not much hops at all, but the malt lacks complexity and the beer falls on being too plain. I had expected more. This is probably a nice thirst quencher in the heat of the summer, but as beer for the occassion it is not.

Flaska 75 cl systembolaget.

Hazy orange beer. A lot of fizzy carbonation from start, but it gets softer quite fast. Alot of earthy hops, a little spicy yeast and hay. Quite large body for beeing a saison, and a little sweeter than usually - but it’s still quite well balanced to the hops.
