La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers’ family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Pours slightly hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, yeast and hint of pepper and some fruits. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a fruity, slightly malty and pepper finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Lätt dimmig orange öl med vitt småbubbligt skum. Doft av deg, halm, citrus och lätt funkighet. I smaken tillkommer en pepprighet. Torr munkänsla. Döljer alkoholen mycket väl.

Classic ’strong saison’ since 1988. Off-white, thick, rocky head leaving pretty lacing on the edge of the glass, warm orange blonde colour, clear but gradually becoming more cloudy as the bottle is emptied. The aroma is a pleasant combination of fresh, sweet fruitiness (orange, pineapple, apple peel, melon) and an earthy, saison-like spicines (pepper, hay, nutmeg, herbal hops) with further impressions of bread, honey, biscuit, sherry. Fruity taste, fresh citrussy touch, light caramel malts, vaguely sweetish but above all dominated by an appetizing, spicy, earthy, rooty dryness stretching deep into the finish, where leafy hops and gin-like alcohol appear. Great example of its style, like all of Blaugies’ beers.

Draft at Edmunds Oast. Cloudy golden pour with a large frothy white head. Nose presents peppery yeast, earthiness, orange and lemons peels and wet dough. Palate is fairly dry with musty yeast flavors, earthy, citrus peels and peppercorns. Rustic and delicious.

Mousse dense et crémeuse par dessus un liquide orange clair, troublé, doré, effervescent. Nez frais rappelant le pamplemousse, amertume franche, désaltérante, malt riche, nourrissant. Une vraie merveille.

Bottle. Musty, yeast aroma. Hazy golden body with tall lasting head. Flavor begins with dry fruits and an earthy bitterness. Very dry and crisp, with hints of spice and hops. Musty aftertaste.

Bottle at the Capital in Leuven. Cloudy orange with a big bubbly foam head. Woody, somewhat smoked, herby and crisp, with a hint of sour. The aroma is sour, farmyard, quite lambic. Pretty tasty.

750 ml bottle at home from backlog notes 07. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have lemony citrus, herbal notes, dry toasted malts, light caramel, earthy, grass, pretty decent saison for one of my early entries to the style.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark amber orange colour with a large frothy white head. Aroma of fresh floral notes, toffee, citrus and mild clove notes. Rich and rustic flavour of floral hops, rich citrusy tanginess, white bread, pepper, orange and herbs. Quite nice mild toffee sweetness. Medium bodied and a rich mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Very refreshing and rich. Alcohol is quite well hidden. Lovely.
