COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers’ family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Hazy orange beer. A lot of fizzy carbonation from start, but it gets softer quite fast. Alot of earthy hops, a little spicy yeast and hay. Quite large body for beeing a saison, and a little sweeter than usually - but it’s still quite well balanced to the hops.

It grows over time. At first pretty flat but given some time it rises with a nice balance between hops and malts. A hint of spontaneus yeast.

Bottle at home. Pours a cloudy orange layered with dark yellow with a ready white head that is retained throughout. nose is semi-dry as suggested, a little bit of Belgian Tripel like candi sugar like esters, light grass, bread, frosted cake. Flavor is more dry than nose suggests, bread, light herbal and grass. A tad on the boozy side, but still very good. Shocked I never rated this back in the day. Glad to have this back on the shelves in NC.

Bottled 750ml. -from Vrutak Zagreb. Clear golden coloured, small white to off-white head, mild fruity nose. Moderate malty, yeasty, fruity and mild spicy with notes of peach and light alcohol. Dryish spicy finish. Not bad but rather ordinary brew.
