La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers’ family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Cloudy gold color with lots of sediment. Huge, loose head. Gentle aroma that’s slightly herbal and slightly sugary. Flavor is balanced with plenty of Belgian yeastiness and a mildly bitter aftertaste. The beginning of the beer, the first flavor on the tongue, is a tad watery, but it pretty quickly fills out. It’s just a slightly odd sensation. A nice, pleasant, accessible beer.

Bottle. Almost clear deep copper liquid with medium white head. Aroma of white pepper, bubblegum, bread, grain, lemon peel and grapefruit. Taste is dry and light bitter with notes of white pepper, bread, bubblegum, grain and lemon peel. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice.

bottle-received from the beer of the month club february 2014 sampled april 2014 Pours hazy orange with lots of particulates and yeast haze with a nice soapy fluffy white head and generous lacing. nose is musty, funky, cobwebs, like an attic. flavors follow suite with lots of funky yeast twang, earthy notes and some spice characteristics. much like a saison dupont in terms of its consistency. long funky finish with lots of yeast character, barnyard and some lite spice (mostly hops). a very solid saison if you ask me.

Bottle from Rare Beer Club- pours opaque orange with frothy, white 1 finger head that settles a bit. Nose is dry grains, wheat, biscuit and musty hops along with grass. Not overtly sweet as some Saisons, drier and somewhat tart, Belgian yeast, farmyard earthy notes and just a hint of esters on the finish. Quite delicate palate and just a pleasant saison ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Huge fluffy head overlays a golden amber ale. Earthy, yeasty and some straw notes on nose. Grassy earthy spice hits the palate. Then warmed by some alcohol and finishes slightly sour.

75cl bottle poured into a large tulip. Nose is grassy, yeasty and like petals. Spritzy. Malty backbone like wet bread with slight lemon peel or wet grass hop. A Belgian saison is apt. Glad I picked this up.
