Saison D’Epeautre is a saison beer made in a unique traditional style, using spelt and barley malt in the mash. Very dry and light in body, with a hint of wheaty tartness and a hardy texture that expresses the character of spelt, a primitive strain of wheat.

It is one truly feisty brew, with an outrageous pop and a natural long-lasting head. And ah, the aroma! It’s a wonderfully heady, musty, cellar character that is unmistakably Belgian and a lot like champagne. The taste delivers on the promise of the nose. Very enjoyable, and perfect for summer, but wonderful at any time of year.

D’Epeautre is hand-brewed in small batches by the impassioned, gifted Blaugies brewers, a husband, wife, and son team. They’re very adventurous in recreating traditional beer styles – and are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The family enjoys good food and beer, and consumes a lot of its own product for cooking and drinking. We like the rougher, grainier malt texture of all their beers. They give you the feeling that the brewers put this beer in a bottle just a few days ago, especially for you.

Beatiful, hazy, yellow beer with a one finger high, offwhite head.

Nose: Banana, Champagne yeast, grain, wheat, grass, earthy notes, mineral, cookies, egg (!) and malt. It reminds me of an old myddy cellar.
Taste: Fresh taste of hops, malt, mineral, orange, wheat, grass, white pepper, banana and coriander.
Body: Light body with high carbonation. The bubbles are dancing around on my tongue. Very refreshing! Almoust like drinking Champange. Dry, slightly bitter finish.

A little to high carbonation in my opinion. I like to swirl the beer in the glass to get a bit of the carbonation out and then it is delicious!

The using of spelt in the mash makes this beer unique and adds a special texture to the beer.

I definitely recommend this!

Clear golden with a large white head. Aroma is fruity with peach, lemon, floral honey, some pepper and a touch of barnyard. Taste is sweet floral honey with a light to medium bitterness, leading to a light sweet, fruity, dry and spicy finish. Light to medium bodied, somewhat oily texture, fizzy carbonation.

Golden, just a small haze, big white head with large bubbles. Smell of belgian yeast esters, clove, flour, a touch of funk, fruity light malts. Light sweet, yeast fruityness, spices, light malts, almost bone dry! Moderate bitter, totally a very fine belgian saison
