COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison D’Epeautre is a saison beer made in a unique traditional style, using spelt and barley malt in the mash. Very dry and light in body, with a hint of wheaty tartness and a hardy texture that expresses the character of spelt, a primitive strain of wheat.

It is one truly feisty brew, with an outrageous pop and a natural long-lasting head. And ah, the aroma! It’s a wonderfully heady, musty, cellar character that is unmistakably Belgian and a lot like champagne. The taste delivers on the promise of the nose. Very enjoyable, and perfect for summer, but wonderful at any time of year.

D’Epeautre is hand-brewed in small batches by the impassioned, gifted Blaugies brewers, a husband, wife, and son team. They’re very adventurous in recreating traditional beer styles – and are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The family enjoys good food and beer, and consumes a lot of its own product for cooking and drinking. We like the rougher, grainier malt texture of all their beers. They give you the feeling that the brewers put this beer in a bottle just a few days ago, especially for you.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2014 Light yeast cloudiness, hazy bright yellow in colour with a large frothy white head, medium lasting offering soft liquid lacings. Noses of hay, floral, basement aromas, barnyard, musty, and hints of spruce. On the palate the brewery theme sticks to the plan offering a lovely fizzyness with light bitter-sour, acidic notes with hints of sweetness. Light-medium bodied well balanced on the palate with a soft-light texture. The finish is lightly dry, refreshing and a bit short. All in all a pleasant beer!

Trevlig

Bottle, 6 years past the BBD. Pours hazy yellow with airy off-white head and dark sediments. Sweetish aroma of honey and apple wine. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with dusty notes and touches of alcohol and yeast. Coffeelike finish, with roasty and sweetish hints. Not bad, despite the, ehm... customer-induced maturation! ;-)

Sample shared by a friend. Pours a slightly murky pale golden color with a medium white head that diminishes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, grain and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of ripe fruit, grainy malt, mild spice and yeast. The finish is fruity up front with an earthy yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

Leggermente aspra e secca è una birra estiva ---Rated BY Italianbeer85

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2014 Pours a pale golden with a medium-thick and eternal white head that leaves tremendous lacing. Nose is of fresh grains, doughy. Herbal and spicy notes abound. Taste is quite dry and ever so lightly tart. Again, fresh cereals are showcased along with some peppery flavors. Finishes on slightly sweet but mostly herbal notes. Body is light, mouthfeel airy, almost too easy to drink. Great!

Bottle bought @ Etre. Pours vibrant hazy yellow with a big frothy white head that slowly dissipates while lee acing some trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is funky with wheat crackers, lemon juice, doughy white bread, hay, pepper corns, lemon zest and dry soil. Taste is tiny bitter, slightly sour, funky and tiny floral with crackers, sourdough bread, lemon juice, white grapes, hay, dry soil, leather, barnyard, mineral water, lemon zest and hints of white wine, banana bread and unripe pears. Mouthfeel is crisp, sparkling, dry, tart and light bodied. Finish is slightly sour and funky with wheat crackers, lemon zest, pepper corns, dry soil, hay, barnyard, grape skins, mineral water and hints of dry wood. Perfectly balanced funky saison. Impressive stuff! Perfect with rustic Brie cheese and crispbread.

pours hazy almost cloudy very pale yello with a creamy and frothy off-white head, eternal retention and strong lacing. wheaty, grainy - very rustic, dusty yeastiness - bretts, lemon, lemongrass, citrus - some oranges too, bitter herbs, mint, astringent tea, bit of metal, hint of tartness. lively and almost fomay carbonation, light body - not watery but fairly light. very dry and grassy-herbal-citrusy finish. very good brew!

Bottle. Not with Tom, funny coincidence. Pale yellow pour, clear at first but with a healthy dose of floaties about halfway through the bottle, puffy white head, tons of carbonation. Aroma of light grains, bready, with some very light lemony notes, just a hint of pepper as well. Taste is quite grainy but not sweet, balanced hop bitterness, spicy yeasty finish, quite dry. Palate is very light, well carbed. Super quaffable saison, as easy drinking as can be.

Bottle (750 ml). Slightly hazy yellow with a huge frothy, but quickly collapsing white head and little to no lacing. Aroma is mild with yeast notes, pils malt, light tartness, wheat, light fruity notes and very little skunky notes. Some dust too. Taste is also yeasty with wheat, cereals, light fruits and light sweetness. Medium body. Intense carbonation. Dry finish. Not the tastiest Saison, but still quite complex despite not being overpowering. Good balance. Really quenching. Good drinkability.
