Murky and deep amber. Weighty mouthfeel with a moderate carbonation. Big cookie-dough sweetness and chewy caramel. Citrusy hops (sugared grapefruit, tangerine and a pinch of lemon). Small element of spruce. Seemingly mild hop aromas, but hop flavors are pretty strong. Nice beer.

Draught. Pours amber with a medium creamy tan head and spotty lacing. Pine and citrus hop resiny aroma with a light maltiness. Flavor is piney hop with a citrus bite. Medium bodied and refreshing palate, a little fizzy as well.

Growler. Virtually no head. Body is hazy dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel, toasted grain), lightly hoppy (resin). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation.

Crosling (1861) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - MAR 27, 2005
Easter Sunday tasting w/ Ernest, Aubrey and Brian. Murky brown color. Dull nose, just a bit of fruity malt and slighty weedy hops. Flavor is attractive in its malt contribution but the hops should be more substancial. Way more substancial. The aroma is particularly bad.

Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 27, 2005
Dark red/orange, no head. Nice hop aroma, very earthy and sweet. Leafy, vegetable taste up front, then gets hoppy and sweet. Malty sweetness dominates. Finish gets minty and a little hoppy. OK stuff.
