CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 21, 2003 Dark copper color with a puffy, although fast-fading head. Aroma of sweet and sour malts with some noble hop character. Body is semi-robust and contains a good balance between the sweet, bready, caramel malt and the lightly bitter hops. The finish is smooth and warming with just the faintest hint of milk chocolate. A very good beer. Thanks to Dogbrick! thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 31, 2003 Thanbks to Dogbrick for providing me with the opportunity to rate this beer. This brew poured a very large head of mostly diminishing finely sized light brown colored bubbles that left behind a hazy carbonated brown colored body and a fair lacing. Thje aroma was a nice malty one with some spiceyness hidden within it. The mouthfeel was smooth bubbly and thin. The flavor was that of malt and spice. It was refined, refreshing and different. hotstuff (3050), Indiana, USA Oct 25, 2003 A very easy drinking beer that goes down very smooth with a good balance to it. It poured a large sized tan creamy head with fine-small sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The hue was copper and the nose was malty, caramel and sweet. It had a sweet, caramel and a hint of tanginess to the flavor from start to finish . The mouthfeel was very, very smooth, a little tingly, thin textured and light bodied. There was very little lacing with this beer. I would definitely drink this one again if given the opportunity. Drew (2377), Kent, Ohio, USA Dec 18, 2002 The brightness and full flavor of this put it at the top of any Alt that I’ve tried - do whatever you can to try this delicious brew. I get this on tap all the time at the Zephyr in Kent. thick copper color, nice head. The first time i tried it i thought of a much, much bolder sam adams, but don’t let that stop you from trying this. Nice hop punch and thick, slightly burnt malt flavor. It’s nothing short of complex - as you drain the glass, the flavors linger and mingle, slightly new tastes with each gulp - then order another pint and start all over.... very very good. Dogbrick (2348), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 16, 2002 Updated: Mar 30, 2004What a wonderfully balanced beer. I was not expecting much from a beer from the Rubber City (tires, you pervert). The beer is a dark brown with an amber tint. Thick and rather foamy beige head. Nice malt and caramel flavor but it is not overpoweringly sweet. This is all nicely contrasted with a hops kick. The finish is lively and nicely hopped. I lament the loss of this fine beer, and the fact that it was never available to me locally.
