(500ml bottle thanks to BA G311) very dark brown pour, viscous coating of the glass, and a ring of tan bubbles. Nose of raisin, anise, gingerbread, sweet applewood smoke, fudge, smells awesome. Taste of light smoke, raisin, watery chocolate, taste is a bit less impressive than the nose. Watery body, excellent smoked beer.

Thanks to Tom for the bottle. Thick black pour with absolutely no carbonation. Huge nose of chocolate, smoke and a touch of toffee sweetness. Sweet caramel malt, toffee, smokey malt with chocolate and roast in the taste. Great, just wish it was carbonated.

Bottle thanks to NYbeer. Pours very dark brown with medium tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, smoke, and wood. Flavors of roasted malts, perfect amount of smoke, ash, chocolate, and a little coffee, but that could just be the smokyness confusing my palate. I can appreciate a nice smoked beer and this is one of them. Smoke adds nice complexity and is not overbearing at all. Pretty solid.

The beer pours very dark brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is woody and is heavy on roasted malt along with notes of smoke and chocolate. There is also a very subtle meaty aroma. It is dry and lightly astringent, and not nearly as heavy bodied as I expected given the color and aroma, a little bit thin. The smoke comes out a bit more on the palate, along with some bitter chocolate. Finishes woody with a bit more smoke and meat. While I’ve heard of at least one other bottle from this batch that was flat, this one is carbonated fairly well, although on the lighter side.

A - Pours a dark black color with a nice finger of off-white head. There was good retention with the head and some very nice lacing left behind. S - Aroma has some very nice elements of smokiness, some sweet chocolate malts, and some bitter coffee aroma. Very nice and well balanced. T - Starts off with the roasted chocolate malt flavor building with a hint of smokiness in the background. Through the middle, the roasted flavors and the smokey flavors explode a bit with some coffee flavor also mixing in. The finish has some nice smokey flavor that lingers with some bittersweet flavor from the chocolate. Very nice balance of flavors here. M - Medium bodied with medium to medium-low carbonation. A bit dry overall, which makes it a really crisp beer. The smokiness really fills the mouth at points and gives the beer a full taste. D - Very drinkable. The flavors here are excellently balanced and make for a very good beer. The smoky flavor really works well mixed with the porter and gives the beer a really nice kick, even with the relatively moderate abv (5.7%).

Another treat from Skyview, thanks Bob. Light smoke in the aroma. Thick palate with flavor on the dry side. more smoke in the flavor, but it is light. I light my smoked beers with more smoke.
