On tap at the GTMW 2011. Murky brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, brown sugar, caramel and bready yeast. Taste of caramelized brown sugar, milder dark fruit, caramel and spicy yeast. Finish is dry and a touch prickly.

On tap at the Blind Pig Brewery. This is definitely one of their better works. Very tasty, though not as rich nor yeasty/bready as other dubbels can be. The pour was great with some creamy milk-white head, nice retention and lacing, with a cloudy ruby-cocoa colored appearance. Aroma and flavor play off of each other nicely. Creamy, lightly rich sweetness in the body and some booze (as seems to be the case with their stronger beers, not necessarily in a bad way). Up front, there’s some fruitiness with cherries and light berries. Then, some caramel cookie and brown sugar spiced dark malts. Also, a decent amount of earthiness that makes for a well balanced dubbel. Finishes dry. This was a nice offering from a very reliable brewpub. This almost pushed them over the hump for me with a near breakout.
