I love saving the best for last, and as luck would have it, that’s exactly what this turned out to be. I have really struggled with liking coffee beers, even those like Bells Java Stout which are held in high esteem on this site. This beer, however, is by itself a reason to visit Blind Tiger if you’re ever in the area. It is, easily, the best coffee beer that I’ve sampled to date. The appearance is identical to the standard Tiger Paw porter: black with ruby highlights and a thin, creamy, tan head. The aroma is of fresh espresso and roasted malt, none of the day-old, twice-used coffee grounds that I get from so many other coffee stouts & porters. Medium-bodied, lively and dry, the flavor is a blend of bold espresso, roasted malt and faint molasses. If you’re ever in the area and want to grab a pint or two, this is the one you don’t want to miss.

On tap at the Blind Tiger and poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark opaque brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malts. Flavor is sweet with roasted malts and a great coffee taste at the end. Awesome beer.

One of the best beer from this great brewpub. I usually do the flights with a friend whenever I visit and I’m always fighting for this one. A weak body would be my only complaint. The coffee aroma and overall roasted character are splendid.

On tap at the brewpub. Comes almost black with a small tan head. Aroma of coffee and malt. Taste is coffee, malt, and some chocolate. For coffee lovers.

On tap, pours black with a thin tan head and some lacing, aroma is nice with a decent amount of malt and some cofee, the coffee flavor really comes through in the finish, mouthfeel is nice, really enjoyed this one.

On tap. Black pour with a nice brown head. Nice coffee aroma with a touch of chocolate. Disappointing lighter coffee flavor with milk chocolate... a bit watery. Meh.

Draft at KCBM Homebrew Competition 2011. Aroma is coffee! Plenty of roast, malt, more coffee, dark sweetness, cocoa and brown sugar, followed by still more coffee. Quite a powerful nose due to the intense coffee addition. Opaque, dark brown-black color with a very fine head. I noticed that as I drank, the sides of the glass remained covered with a brown sheen. Flavor is full of coffee as well, plenty of strong, dark roast here also, with sweet, dark, nearly burnt malts, some chocolate and toffee, a light-moderate amount bitterness detected as well. Low to moderate level of effervescence, body is medium. I happen to like coffee, so I enjoyed this. Actually very nicely done, for all of its one-sided character.

(Draught) Pours a black body with a medium cream head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and some dark chocolate. Flavor of coffee, roasted malt, light caramel, and subtle dark chocolate with a somewhat bitter, roasty finish.

Pours a deep brown color with a light brown head. Aroma is roast, coffee, toffee, some smoky notes, chocolate, some raisins, and some nice woody earthy notes. Flavor is caramel, ash, roast, rich coffee, and a rich toffee finish.

GABF 2009. Darker black pour. Big roasty aroma. Roasted & chocolate malts, mild coffee. Nice porter

Draft. Pours a black body with a tan head. Roast y malt all over this, with a drier more powered esk flavored coco and chocolate malt accent. Roasted malt with a mild coffee bitterness. Good.
