COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American Craft Beer Week celebrates the independent spirit, craftsmanship, and community fostered by the American craft brewer. In that spirit the brewers of Free State Beer, Blind Tiger, and 23rd Street offer up the Full Kimono, an Imperial Red Ale released this Friday, May 11th. Head Brewers Geoff Deman (Free State), John Dean (Blind Tiger), and Bryan “Bucky” Buckingham (23rd Street) designed the recipe together and collaboratively brewed the three batches of Full Kimono at each otherʼs breweries in three successive days. At over 10% ABV (alcohol by volume) and hopped to the hilt with more hops than any of the three breweries have previously employed in a single batch, the Full Kimono is something special indeed. Full of hop flavor but balanced by a full malt backbone, the Full Kimono lays bare the “magic” of the brewerʼs art for all to enjoy.

On tap at GTMW 2012. Hazy copper with a medium tan head that sticks. Aroma of grapefruit, light resinous hops and caramel malt. Taste is semi-hoppy with citrus, light pine, sweet malt and middle of the road bitterness.

(tap at brewpub) copper with small off white head. Citrus/tropical fruit aroma. Flavor is very hoppy - citrus and some tropical fruit. Good, but not balanced enough to be great.

Nice smooth beer, would not of thought of it as a red ale, nice finish, strong beer. Much too strong for friends of mine.

On draft at the brewpub. Aroma of mild fruit, toasty, lightly sweet red/amber malts, piney, fruity hop, earthiness, and some background notes of apple and pineapple. Clear red in color with a very slight head and thin lacing. Flavor profile is sweet, hoppy and fruity, with strong pine, lighter citrus (orange, pineapple), brown sugar, tropical fruit, and some faint peppery alcohol and hop spice towards the finish. Warming, well-carbonated mouthfeel, oily and full on the palate, very full-bodied as well. Huge Imperial Red/Barleywine style. Good stuff!

On tap at Blind Tiger in a small glass with all of the collaborators’ logos. Basically, exactly the same as the Free State tap version. So check it out for yourself

On tap at Blind Tiger in a small glass with all of the collaborators’ logos. Pours a clear dark reddish brown with almost no head. Aroma is hops, citrus, and grass. Taste is hoppy bitter and citrus sweet. Very good.
