3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pawola22 (2203) - Chicago, USA - MAR 13, 2009
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a black body with a very tiny, cream colored head that dissipates immediately and leaves minimal lacing. Faint aroma of chocolate and roasted malts. Light fruit notes. Flavor is more robust than the aroma. Staightforward porter, but solid tasting. Lots of rich, sweet chocolate blending nicely with a mild roast taste and a bit of smoke. Some syrupy molasses and a light fruit. Not really picking up a lot of coffee like they describe. Palate is medium bodied and creamy before finishing dry and medium roasty. Overall, nothing exceptional, but very sessionable. It pleased me.

Creamy tan head on a deep brown body. Somewhat subdued aroma of roasted beans and dark chocolate. The body more than makes up for the soft aroma with heavy notes of smoke, tobacco, nut and chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel with a great nutty/sweet finish. Solid porter all around

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Gregis (1256) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - SEP 7, 2007
Pours black with ruby highlights and a thin creamy tan head. Roasted malts and faint coffee on the nose, but to be honest a brewpub isn’t always the ideal environment to smell a beer. When sizzling fajitas go passing by your head, the smell of grilled onions lingers for a while. Medium-bodied and lively with a dry finish. Roasted malt, molasses and a light coffee notes comprise the flavor which concludes dry and roasty. A decent porter, but nothing to get too excited about.

On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark brown with dark orange highlights. There was a light khaki head on top. The aroma was roasted peanuts with some milk chocolate. The body was thin with some dark chocolate taste. There was also a little bit of roasted almonds. A decent brown style porter.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 harlequinn (2745) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JUL 30, 2006
This is a great porter, I think this is where the brewpub specializes, is in dark beers, because there lighter ones were very disappointing, but this however rocks! Rich milk chocolate, with some cocoa dustiness, with alot of nice dark fruits, which I was not expecting. This one is all about the malts, rich, creamy and smooth!
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 henry3r (586) - Wichita, Kansas, USA - OCT 22, 2005
The tap poured a clear, dark brown (nearly opaque) beverage with an average sized creamy light tan head that lasted throughout and left good lacing on the glass. The aroma presented a moderate malt presence with a dominant molasses foreground and background notes of raisins and red wine in the background. It had a medium body with soft carbonation and a creamy texture. The flavor was moderately sweet and complex to start with hints of molasses and toffee. As the taste matured it took on a slight coffee bitterness and the finish was long with a slight alcohol warmth. This was really quite good.
