Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol, 9/12/07. Deep ruby red beer with a tight, creamy off-white head. Light malt sweetness and plain chocolate in the aroma. The flavour was also chocolatey with a whiff of spice and a dry finish. Enjoyable.

Cask (gravity dispense) at the Pigs Ear Beer Festival, London on 6 December 2006. Reddish colour. Fruity crystal malt character with some treacle notes. Maybe a touch spicy. Decent enough but nothing really leapt out at me here.

Cask (handpump) @ Market Porter, 9 Stoney Street, Southwark, London, Greater London, England SE1 9AA. Clear medium to dark brown color with a average, creamy with butter dabs, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, toffee, nutty notes, light chocolate, light to moderate hoppy, spicy. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091228]

Cask handpull at Market Porter. Chestnut colour, thin off white head. Diacetyl straight off on the aroma. Butter as hell. Not great. Butter runs thorugh it.

Cask@Market Porter, London. Deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is spices, xmascookies, mild wooden notes as well as some slight sprucelike notes. Flavour is spices, fruity and floral hops along with caramel malts. Quite nicely spiced Xmas brew.

Cask @ The Market Porter, last pull from the barrel. Copper with an off white head. Sweet bready malt with slight gingery spice and some hops in the nose. Taste is much the same, slightly watery with sweet malts, spice and bittering hops in the finish.

Hand pulled at the Anchor, Birmingham. My notes are sadly remiss here, but I have indicated that I found this Bitter to have a choccy aspect, which I apparently only enjoyed to the tune of a 3.3 overall score.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton. A dark brown beer with a dark fruit and hoppy nose. The taste is sweet with good malt and fruit notes. Tasty and easy drinking.
